Re: shingles vaccination

This is not meant to scare you or deter you at all but just sharing experience...

My MIL got Shingles vax a few months ago and she was VERY sick after the 2nd dose. Fever, aches, chills, tired, tummy issues. She had NO reaction at all to either Covid vaccine.

I got shingles when my first DC was 8 weeks old and it was NOT fun

Re: shingles vaccination

Flu-like symptoms and a very sore arm are side affects for many if not most people who receive the Shingles vaccine.
We always let the patient know so they can plan accordingly.

shingles vaccination

Everyone I know who has had shingles wishes they got the vaccine since they all had horrible experiences. Once I am eligible for this vaccine, I will be getting it.

Same thing. Word for word. I saw first hand in my aunt how bad shingles was. I would never wish that misery on my worst enemy.

Re: shingles vaccination

I've got shingles twice in my life. Although it wasn't such a horrible experience, I'm looking forward to get the vaccine once I get 50. I even asked my doctor if I could before 50 but he said no.

For me it the shingles were uncomfortable. No too painful, but maybe because I had pain medicine. Both times started on my lower back and, from the first time I got it now I have a numb area there. DH had his 2 shots and he says both of them hurt his arm but it was it.

shingles vaccination

I've had shingles 3x. I'm eligible for the vaccine. I have not gotten it. Natural immunity from shingles comes from being around kids who have chicken pox. The need for the vaccine is due to the low incidence of chicken pox in kids due to mandatory vaccination. The company that makes the chicken pox vaccine makes the shingles vaccine.

shingles vaccination

I should definitely get it, i have been thinking about it and I have heard horror stories about people who have had it. I am of the age but i also heard that there is usually a reaction on the 2nd shot.

I got my vaccine a few weeks ago. It was one of the more painful shots but thankfully I didn't get sick from it (just really sore arm). I also didn't have a reaction (other than sore arm) from all 3 of the COVID shots.

I've heard about how awful shingles is (and I had chicken pox as a kid) so I'm not taking a chance with possibly getting it later.
