Vaccinated…..to….Unvaccinated

There has been no mention by all these people in power about when a vaccinated person who chooses not to get a booster is classified as ‘unvaccinated’.

They keep extending these bogus excelsior passes.

I’m sorry, but according to science if you were vaccinated in January…..if you choose not to get a booster you are unvaccinated come January. But not according to NYS!

Not everyone qualifies for a booster. The evidence/data supports that people under 65 with no preexisting conditions are still protected.

So you think 18 months later someone should still be considered vaccinated?

Yes, as long as the data continues to support that it is still effective at preventing hospitalizations and death.

Didn’t Pfizer just say 8 months? Who said 18 months?

I have asked this over and over and no one wants to answer this.

So who is to say a vaccinated person is protected anymore if they ran out as soon as they could to get it?

Why are they not required to be tested also?

Ideally, you would get tested for antibodies and see your level. Over a certain level wouldn't need a booster -- yet. But what do I know.

I’ll let you know how well vaccinations work in the next few days. My son contracted Covid from school and started showing symptoms on Friday. My in-laws were over on Friday before we realized he was sick so he exposed 4 vaccinated adults. Small sample size but all close contacts…

Good news for my son is that he appears to be fine and just had a low grade fever (under 100.4) and sore throat for 24 hours. He’s living his best life playing nonstop Fortnite and watching YouTube videos in his room. Hoping no one else gets sick…

That is the logical answer of course.
However is the state requiring those antibody tests to determine if your vaccine is still good and your vaccine card still valid to enter a NYC restaurant?

Or are they just putting an arbitrary date out there that you can run around assuming you are safe until?

The biggest problem I think is that Logic is missing! No one in control seems to think logically. This is not one size fits all. Some people may never make or get enough antibodies. Others have more and for longer.. They should test for this. But again -- Logic

Antibodies are not the only indication of immunity. Therefore, simply looking at antibodies is insufficient. The immune system is made of so many specialized cells that contribute to immune response.

I'm very interested in this as well. My son was exposed at school. HE IS vaccinated, but was not fully vaccinated (by two days!) when he was exposed. He now has a fever and sore throat. Hoping for strep or something after his appointment today but we'll see. Just curious what your experience is since we are all vaccinated in my house (except for my younger soon who is too young) and my 75 year old mother in law lives with us as well.

I didn’t know he was a close contact on Friday obviously. Test turn around is sometimes takes days, which is what happened to his classmate. I found out after he developed symptoms. Friday evening he developed symptoms. Urgent care had no appointments for testing. We went Saturday and got results yesterday. I went to a place which has less than 24 hour turn around.

You can get results in 15 minutes. No appointment needed either. You will wait longer but peace of mind.

Urgent cares near me require an appointment for testing and most don’t offer rapid tests. We just had my son isolate once we realized he had symptoms. Getting a PCR test late Friday evening or early Saturday morning would have made no difference.

Wow interesting. All the ones by me do it. I do know that some jobs require the longer test but most you can do this as well as just for personal reasons.

For us, since our son was exposed the rapid test isn't acceptable anyway to return to school. Has to be the longer one.

Re: Vaccinated…..to….Unvaccinated

It’s obvious the vaccine at least starts to wear off after five/six months. I see it playing out in real life. All the people I know who have had covid in the last two weeks other than the kids are all vaccinated and they are picking it up easily and are all symptomatic/sick. It’s also not one or two but several more all on Long Island. The quarantine rules are a joke. I know two women who went to work and then tested positive the next day. They caught it from someone in the household and would have been deemed a close contact but for the fact they were vaccinated. One of them, four other employees all fully vaccinated caught it.

Other countries have already made the booster mandatory after 5/6 months to be considered vaccinated. Same vaccine we are talking about and after research and data supported this - so the writing is on the wall. In our country if you read up on it, it’s social/political reasons why the booster is right now only 65 and up and high risk, not because it’s playing out that people are still having good immunity at this point. It’s not anecdotal at this point, it’s playing/played out in real life. Right now the teens that have gotten it are mostly on the earlier end and are still protected given their later timeline. I’m sure by February we should start to see cases there too - IF parents choose to test.
