HOA - Pros & Cons (Summerfield)

Hi, is anyone familiar with Summerfield in Holtsville? The houses are gorgeous, but my husband saw that there's an HOA and said that would be a huge minus. Anyone have any insight to this community? TIA

I am not familiar with that particular HOA but what do you get from the HOA? We have an investment property that is part of an HOA and there are major pros to having it. There is access to a bunch of community pools and playgrounds which is the most significant benefit. I don’t think there are many restrictions but each HOA will differ. And right now I live in a village and there are similar restrictions to what you might get with an HOA without the pros!

Many friends over the years have lived there but not familiar with the HOA. Been to a baby shower in the clubhouse so maybe that is one thing included. I know there is a daycare which used to be just for residents.

Amy Fisher used to live there with her ex, so that tells you what kind of neighbors you might have lol.

I don't live in that HOA but I do live in an HOA. Summerfield has a lot of common areas including a pool, playground. etc.
Again, I don't know what the bylaws are in Summerfield but in mine, we do have limits on some things. I have to pay a rood usage fee anytime I add square footage over 400 sq feet. We need permission to remove trees. Our roads are private so maintenance is on the community as is snow removal and garbage.
