I’m late to the game on this, but better late than never. What do you air fry successfully? Do you have any tips?

I have a picky family so mostly fries, broccoli, green beans, chicken nuggets, onion rings.

For myself I have done veggies they don’t eat. Eggplant, mushrooms, zucchini.

Dumb question but do you batter them beforehand? Or does that defeat the purpose of it being healthier Chat Icon

Re: Air fry people

We made salmon in the air fryer the other day and it came out great- and it cooks FAST.
My one tip- watch the time. Most thinks cook way faster than you would expect- even faster than the recommended time they give you. Especially fish.
So if you aren't careful it dries out. Just keep an eye on it.

My DH makes Brussel sprouts in there too and they come out awesome and crispy

I'll ask him. I am guessing Avocado oil and like salt, pepper, maybe some garlic powder, etc.
But I'll confirm!

Air fry people

I know that air frying is a lot healthier than regular frying, but is it a healthy way to eat?

Depends what you eat.
French fries aren't healthy no matter how you cook them. The bagged ones are usually pre fried.
I love onion rings- not healthy- i make them in the toaster oven. But they are pre-fried so it doesn't matter how i heat them up.

It's only healthy if you are making healthy foods in it.
Oil and fat aren't always the enemy either.
Depends on the type of oil.

I have made a chicken and split chicken breasts in mine and they have come out great. They cook so much quicker than in the oven and don't come out dry.

I also use it to cook my kids breaded chicken products (nuggets, popcorn chicken, chicken patties, etc).

ETA - For healthiness - it depends on what you cook. It's great for veggies because they come out nice and crispy like you did fry them (when you didn't).

I know it's an old post but I am LOVING my air fryer!!!

I initially got it to heat up snack between school and sports, like nuggets, taquitos, etc. OR fries in the summer when I don't want to turn on the oven.

Then I recently got brave and started COOKING with it! I cook Brussel sprouts and broccoli in it. Just toss with olive oil and some salt. I add a LITTLE bit of water. As someone above said, if you don't watch it, things will cook faster. So sometimes I get burnt areas, but I LOVE that! My family doesn't.

Then I started cooking salmon. SO EASY!!! And easy to CLEAN!

Then last night, I actually tossed cubed chicken with spices and a little olive oil, and it came out great!

I know they get a bad rap as being another appliance on your counter but ours is used almost every day!
