People with forced air heat...
We just bought our home in June so this is the first time we have had the heat working. A few months ago we had the heating ducts cleaned out and the guy told us there was around 30 years worth of dirt in our vents
So we turned the heat on last week and now all over my floor I am finding dust bunnies. Ive been vacuuming, swiffering every day and it just keeps on happening. I thought it might be because we just turned on the heat, but its not getting any lighter.
Is this supposed to happen? Should I maybe wait longer than a week to see if the problem stops?

Re: People with forced air heat...
I have had forced hot air in the past and I always felt it was more dusty than when I had steam or HW. I think its something that I just had to deal with

Re: People with forced air heat...
I have forced hot air and actually hate it, but that wasn't your question sorry.
We just moved in so we've only used the heat a few times so far...the first time we used it it was VERY dusty but since then, I haven't really noticed any dust bunnies.

Re: People with forced air heat...
i have it, and if you just had them cleaned that shouldn't really be happening. i don't see any extra dust when i put my heat on

Re: People with forced air heat...
We just had all new duct work and a heating system installed when we moved in (we've been in about 11 months). So there was NOTHING in our ducts. They were brand-spanking new.
We don't smoke, don't have any pets.
We get so much dust it's ridiculous. And cobwebs. We get so many cobwebs.
No dust bunnies though - that's weird. How big are they? Are you exaggerating a bit? Not being snarky or anything, just saying because that would concern me.

jenn, i completely agree about the regular dust. it's quite annoying. I just swiffer and the next day it looks like i didn't.

Re: People with forced air heat...
do you all have wood floors?it likely has a lot to do with that... just a thought, at least you can see the dust to clean it up...those with carpets never see it and it gets into the carpets...

Its dust the size of like maybe a quarter and I will find like maybe 2-3 a day on my floors. Maybe I am exaggerating a bit but I freaking hate dust and it makes my house look dirty! Plus I am allergic to dust so im thinking of buying a air purifier for the house too.
Yes I have all hardwood floors in the house so I was thinking maybe it had something to do with that.
We had forced air in my parent's first home but we had carpeting. I dont remember this much dust but then again that was like 10 yrs ago.

I have forced air heat and hardwood floors. the DUST is impossible. It's everywhere and I just can't keep up. I dust my night stand and 2 days later, it's covered! It's the blowing of the air... I hate it!!

Re: People with forced air heat...
We have forced hot air and the same problem.
We got a humidifier put onto our heater because it was so dry as well so it's cut back a bit on the dust but, it's still really dusty.

Re: People with forced air heat...
how funny...I read this post today, and then I talk to DH (who JUST turned on our forced air heat for the first time) and said it is dusty! Figures!! We just bought a house with hot air heat and I am already having bad feelings about the heating system. I hope I am wrong!
