What's the PTA doing for the kids?
I'm on the PTA and looking for ideas for the kids to give them something to look forward to. Since we are not allowed to bring in assemblies or other type of entertainment, can't really do school outings bc of spreading I'd love to share ideas. I'm the VP of the PTA at a school in central NJ 1st - 5th. I was working on a 5th grade night out this month, but postponing that since Covid is so high now.
In Dec we did do a milk and cookies (allergy friendly of course) book reading during the kid's library time so the class stays together and got to have something fun. We did a snow machine for the kids outside. Decorating the halls with the theme for the months. I am looking to do an assembly EOY prob outside. We did a bike stunt show last year. My youngest son is in 5th grade so this is my last year on the PTA at the elementary school.
Any fun ideas we can share that's been approved? In early Fall on a nice day we also did a make your own sundae bar during their recess and we did the toppings.

For the kids? Nothing. The only thing I’ve seen our PTA do is lunch for the teachers.

For now they bought new indoor recess equipment for each classroom.
At the holidays they sent in cupcakes for each student.
Things are on hiatus right now as nobody other than staff and students are allowed in the building. We had an outdoor picnic and an outdoor holiday boutique this fall but that's about it.

Today, each class got a bag of new games, puzzles, etc. for the kids to enjoy during their indoor recess.
Our school still has school-wide assemblies, author "visits" and speakers, but they are all virtual now with each class joining on Zoom.

We have given new indoor games for each class. We do virtual assemblies that the kids watch on their smartboards. We did the Holiday boutique and a Fall Harvest (which was outside). Also in the evenings we have done Virtual Game nights, take home activities (like pizza making or cupcake decorating).

Our school does digital assemblies, author zooms in class & the Pta gave out a new book to each student for the holidays.

Re: What's the PTA doing for the kids?
Last year we did Glow parties and it was a huge hit. We purchased glow stick, jewelry, glow in the dark stickers, glasses and toys. Teachers turned out the lights and played music and they had dance parties in their classes. We sent out a letter a few days before and told the parents about it, lots of kids went all out and got glow in the dark face paint and wore glow in the dark clothes. It was an easy and fairly cheap idea the kids really liked.

That’s a great idea!
