How do you clear snow from your driveway?
With the first real snow in a while coming, how do you clear your driveway? Hire someone, have kids do it, shovel, plow, snowblower, ignore it, heated driveway, etc.
I have a simple push-plow on my truck (not hydraulic that goes up and down), and a circular drive, so I have the truck set up before the snow starts, remote start the truck to get it nice and warm, then hop in the truck, play the radio, and drive around in the snow for a while. I have heated steps to get to the driveway.
Next door neighbor owns a Bobcat to clear his driveway, and neighbor across the street has a bigger hydraulic plow to clear his.

Re: How do you clear snow from your driveway?
We pay someone to plow our driveway. It's too long and inclined for us to shovel it out.
We have a snowblower for the walkway.

Re: How do you clear snow from your driveway?
My husband has a big snow blower so he uses that and then hand shovels areas that it can't get to

Re: How do you clear snow from your driveway?
Only hand shovels over here and if it is that much, I will help my husband has he has arthritis in his shoulders. He just texted me that he has to run out and get salt after work as at least that helps a bit.
Guess we are a dying breed though as most everyone has a snow blower.
IT SUCKS and that is why I don't get why anyone wants a lot of snow.
We HAVE paid before though when we were having a Super Bowl party and it would have been HELL for us to dig out the street for people to park. Hubby was up at the store and saw someone and asked them if they could and they came by. It was wonderful.

As great as the snow blower is my husband dreads when he has to use it because it's HUGE. And we store it in our shed and he has to drag everything out to get to it to have it ready and waiting in the garage before a big snow. Then when he puts it in the garage to wait to be used, it takes up the whole front of the garage so we can't even come in and out through the garage like we usually do- because you'd be climbing over this huge monstrosity. So while yes, it's totally helpful with big snow, if it's not a lot of snow he doesn't even bother dragging it out- it's actually easier to shovel if it's just a few inches

Re: How do you clear snow from your driveway?
We shovel- like animals. And DH usually still has to work no matter the snow so I get stuck shoveling by myself. But it's a Saturday this time so at least we can take shifts!
ETA: We don't shovel the whole thing. We only have one car at the moment so we only shovel that part even though we could fit 3 cars in the driveway.

How do you clear snow from your driveway?
Snowblower - we live in a region that gets a lot of snow. Although this year, we are well below normal and have received less than LI.

DH always has to work when it snows.
I have become very good at using the snowblower. Also - during the big snows we had last year, some of our really nice neighbors with plows helped me with the end of the driveway where the snowplow leaves the heavy stuff.

Re: How do you clear snow from your driveway?
My husband will use the snowblower. I have shoveled it in the past. It’s a lot. Big driveway. Our neighbor does plowing so if he’s around or in between routes, he’ll just plow it for us

How do you clear snow from your driveway?
big snow like this- we hire our landscaper to do it. My husband has to manage the snow removal at his job, so he'll be there the whole time and can't do it. The landscaper comes and does a bunch of houses on our block, so its easy and stressfree for me.

How do you clear snow from your driveway?
We have three cars in the driveway so it’s not much of a job to shovel what the cars didn’t cover

That is one of the good things of having 2 cars in a single driveway. Now, my kids have to park in the street so they usually get plowed in and my one has work in the morning so we will see how this goes.

Re: How do you clear snow from your driveway?
I typically shovel- but we have a snowblower that we use for over a foot. I don't use it as it is too big for me (sons and DK does) , but I dislike having to clean up the tracks and packed down snow it makes. Sometimes I think it's harder than shoveling on fresh snow.
Also, the way our driveway and neighbor's property is - it's hard to find a way to correctly aim the chute.
Golden Rod- I was thinking since this is supposedly a light snow with blowing winds, would one of those Covid face shields work in keeping the snow off your face, while snow-blowing, or will it be more of a nuisance with fogging and blowing/ melting snow?

The face shields won't keep anything out from the sides or bottoms, just the front, so I think it might make things worse. Snow and wind would get in from the sides, and get inside and outside full of snow. If you have one, it's worth trying it out for a minute or so, and if it doesn't work, just take it off. I wouldn't try and get one, though.

We have some- and what you said makes sense. My son will think I am nuts when I bring it out! Thanks for the reply
