Thought I’d update on the plane situation. On Yesterdays flight, probably 90% of people wore a mask.
Really? That is actually sad that people are not moving on or they just don’t know because they don’t listen to the news. How about the terminal and the employees?
I think it depends on where you're going/coming from. I flew home from Florida into JFK yesterday, and Jet Blue announced before we took off that masks are now optional on all airlines and in all airports in the U.S. I would estimate that 1 in 5 people on the flight wore masks, but again, this was coming from Florida, where I literally did not see a mask all week. When we got to JFK, about 25% of people were wearing masks.
Were they older people?

Why is that sad? Who says they are not moving on? Apparently they are, because they are flying to where they want to go. They want to wear a mask because they feel more comfortable and safe.
A combo of people still not feeling comfortable after they have been vaccinated, some 4 times and many that don’t know the rules because they don’t pay attention to the news.
I am ALL for choice but the things I have seen and things people have said lately makes me sad that many are living in fear.

100% agreed. I wear a mask in stores still because it makes me more comfortable. I am also going to functions, seeing people, and going out to eat. Just because I feel more comfortable still wearing a mask in certain places has nothing to do with "living in fear."

I don’t find it sad either. Now those who don’t want to wear one don’t have to and those who feel better with it on, can. Even that is a problem?
I was flying into Florida so I was surprised so many with masks. At the Airport not many people had them on.

Re: Am I the only one excited
Can I ask why because according to the CDC and the WH, contact to get sick is being with someone less than 6 feet apart for at least 15 minutes. Are you that close to the same people for that long of a time in stores? I can see if you are in a packed crowd for hours but I have personally never been that close to someone for that long in a store.

Are you vaccinated? It IS living in fear as you fear getting sick by others while doing an errand while you most likely have protection of a vaccine and maybe even a booster.

You literally know nothing about me, so stop making assumptions. You don't get to decide that I am "living in fear" if I choose to wear a mask just like you don't want me to make declarations about you because you don't. You have said many times you want people to have a choice. Now we all do. Stop judging choices and making comments about people when they and their choices have zero impact on you. No one needs your so-called pity for living their lives the way they want to live them. Period. (And if you feel the need to respond to this, you get the last word because this is all I have to say about this.)

Yes I believe in choice but if you don’t see this as living in fear, then you are delusional. You are fearing getting sick. Why else would you wear one then?

I'm vaccinated and boosted. I have taken numerous flights these past 2 years. On the next one, DH won't wear a mask, for sure, I might. And both choices are ok and it doesn't mean I'm living in fear. This is a very rare virus. I don't follow the CDC rules in terms of close contacts, because I've met people that got sick without being in close contact, while others have had close contact -like DS multiple times, almost every week- and so far has not gotten sick. I'm excited that I have the choice now. And if I choose to take the mask off, I won't get in trouble. I might keep it on, just for someone out there to think and decide that I have a sad life living in fear

I don’t believe continuing to wear masks on a plane indicates that people are not moving on. They are traveling. Doing normal things. Would you say the same about people who wash their hands? They’re both mitigation strategies.
Maybe people still masking are visiting someone who is immunocompromised. Maybe they are immunocompromised. Maybe they have a cold and are trying to help others not get sick. Maybe they live with someone who is high risk. Maybe they have no sick time and need to avoid getting sick on their vacation. There are a million reasons why someone might wear a mask on a plane. It has no affect on you, so why do you care?
Many people at my job were wearing masks the week before spring break because they wanted to try to reduce their chances of getting sick before going away on vacation. I didn’t think they were living in fear; I just thought that they wanted to enjoy their vacations.

I don’t “fear” getting Covid, but I certainly will do what I can to avoid getting the flu, a cold, or any virus before going on a vacation. In the past masking wasn’t really a socially accepted way to do that, now it is. It’s great to have choices!

For me, I don't FEAR getting sick. I personally just don't WANT to get sick- forget covid. I don't want the flu or a stomach virus either.
But regarding covid, there are still affects of covid that they are finding. Close people who have had it say it set them back so much. They weren't terribly sick. They said it was like a bad cold. But they have lost stamina. It set them back physically. They are annoyed that they got it because they are tired 2 months later.
I'm not living in fear. I am doing everything I was doing before. I just want to stay healthy. I wash my hands, I eat healthy, I take vitamins, and I wear a mask when I feel it's necessary. Why? Not because I FEAR covid. But I just don't want to get sick. There's no time to be sick. When I get sick, my house goes to sh*t.
