I had covid after my vacation too a few weeks back. No one had the medicine so I just rode it out. For me, and my daughter, it was no worse than a cold.

I was so careful except I guess at this trip. I am wondering if they just give the medicine out or only a certain group gets it prescribed

My mom took Paxloid and felt better in a few hours.
Depending upon how sick you feel, I would call your doctor.
My mom has lots of conditions that put her at high risk in addition to being over 60.

My sister has Covid and was given the medicine, but she had to stop taking it because it really upset her stomach.

Re: Those who recently had covid, did you take any of the meds they have now
I just had covid last month. Was traveling through Europe for 3 weeks. I must of gotten it in Bordeaux or Sicily. First day of mild symptoms I tested positive. I started taking a zpak, prednisone, famotidine, and alternating with Motrin 800 and Tylenol every 6 hours. My symptoms stayed mild and I was better in 24-48 hours and able to continue with the rest of the trip. Also it was my first time getting covid

i had covid at the end of july for the 2nd time. i was certainly sicker this time around.. while my symtpoms were still mild, they lasted longer and lingered. I did go to urgent care around day 8 as I was still congested and coughing and he did not prescribe me the paxlovid nor did my PCP recommend it for me as I am not in the age group or have any underlying conditions. I was prescribed a cough medicine and saline nose spray. t just took awhile to work its way through. my cough lasted a good month though.

This happened to my friend as well. The side effects she had from the meds were worse than the covid itself. She also had that rebound covid or whatever it is called.
I had it in June. I rode it out. I had 30 hours of feeling like crap but then it was mostly okay.

You took the prednisone and zpak at beginning, day 2? I was given the same but later on, day 3, 4 when I already started feeling better. Not sure I should start it.

Re: Those who recently had covid, did you take any of the meds they have now
I did not take any and I felt pretty awful for a week, with fatigue lasting two weeks. My husband took Paxlovid and felt better after 2 days and then stopped taking the pills because he's an idiot. He still felt fine but tested positive for his full 10 day quarantine.
My sister's b/f took Paxlovid the RIGHT way and was negative after 6 days, felt better after 2 or 3.
ETA: I will say that my DH and my sister's b/f both had rebound covid about 2 weeks after their first bout. I have not had covid since.
ETAA: My DH was given the medicine since he is considered overweight- he was not pleased. My sister's b/f was given it for an underlying condition.

Thanks for all that info. Its all helpful as this is something that you dont know what to do and whats right until it happens. I am hearing of constant rebound cases on that paxlovid
