Yep, I was an Anna. Thank God, though, I was able to get control over it. It never goes away totally, but when I stopped getting my period, it scared the shiz out of me.

Sort of. I consider it more of disordered eating. I get severe cravings for various foods, which ofcourse goes against my desire for thinness. So, I'm constantly going between dieting and complusive eating. It's this way because if I ate what I wanted I'd be very overweight.

I'm really happy to see, though, that most girls have a healthy relationship with food. Chat Icon

Re: Eating Disorders

I don't have what is considered an eating disorder, it is known more as overeating. Anyway I have been battling this all my life.

I have a few very close friends that have had eating disorders. My sister is also getting her masters in couseling with a focus on adolescent eating disorders.

Re: Eating Disorders

I have some sort of eating problem. I dont know if it would classify as a disorder though

I love food and can binge for weeks on end. Then there are weeks that i dont eat anything but a yogurt or drink for the day.
I just want to start eating "normal and healthy". Its taking a lot of emotional work.

No, I wouldn't consider myself to have an eating disorder. I go on PMS binges, though.

I starved from 130 to 92 Ibs. I think the health problems I began having scared me straight. I am picky about my weight too, but continue to stay at a healthy weight. DH helps a lot.

I'm the same way.
I have sought therapy, read books, tried differents diets and programs but it's still a battle I fight every day. It's tiring to have such a distorted relationship with food.
I am trying so hard to get better though because I do not want my daughter to grow up the way I did using food for all the wrong reasons, then being overweight and having bad body imaging and then eating even more because you hate yourself. It's a terrible cycle.

Re: Eating Disorders

Yes. I took diet pills for years and had OCD when it came to exercise. I would barley eat for weeks at a time and then go on binges where I would eat so much that the next morning my skin would actually be sore. It's hard to explain, but its the worst feeling. I really did have an emotional connection to food. DH finally made me realize that I had a problem. I did get help, but its something that never goes away. It has been 4 1/2 months since my daughter was born and I am carrying around 20 extra pounds. I am very uncomfortable in my own skin, but I'm trying so hard not to revert back to my old ways! Yes! This is soooo true. I learned it from my mother who's mother had issues. I want to break the cycle so my daughter never has to deal with this.

Re: Eating Disorders

I'm an avid poster on here. I'm sorry I can't say who I am, but I suffer from bulimia. It's so hard to live in a world where everything revolves around the way you look. People are always judging you. Society really loves the beautiful people.

It starts out you just want to lose a few pounds or whatever. They next thing you know it's an obsession. Everytime you put something in your mouth, you think, OMG how am I going to get it out. If I don't I'm going to be fat. Nobody wants to be fat. So the purging and laxatives begin. My mother always cared about my weight and harped and harped on me. "You're gaining weight, you look fat..blah blah blah" Now, I struggle with food. Every meal and snack and drink is a painful decision.
