Math Teachers
Can someone help me? Back when I started in my district I taught 6th grade (99). 3 years later I did my principal a favor and moved to 2nd grade and I've been there since. I have been trying to get a tranfer for years now. Well I'll have the opportunity to interview for a 6th grade position hopefully next week.
I need to know what types of interview questions might they ask me. I really need to be on top of my game for this interview especially since I made a big deal about having to interview since it is technically against our contract but I don't want to cause anymore of a problem. I also need this transfer for childcare reasons but our administration is not a big fan of working moms. That is why I have been passed over in the past.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Math Teachers
The big thing is probably going to be the assessment test. How are you going to prepare them? How are you going to ensure that every child in your room succeeds? You may want to check out nysed.gov for the new 6th grade curriculum - it changed dramatically two years ago.
good luck!!

Re: Math Teachers
Also, they will probably ask how you will run your period since you only have a specific amount of time with them. Like checking HW, maybe having a problem of the day on the bd for them to start when they walk in as you check if they did their hw.

Re: Math Teachers
Wll my interview is tomorrow at 11:30. I've been doing a lot of research, reviewing sample tests and I'm shocked that all the math problems came back to me so easily as if I never left 6th grade. A lot of what is on the test in Book 2 is what I have been doing all my time teaching includig in the 2nd grade. (Showing work and expalining how you got your answer.)
Please keep you fingers crossed for me. I'll let you know how it went when I get back tomorrow.
thanks for the help girls.
