I may have a really big problem with my bathroom...
We only have 1 bathroom (upstairs). When the house was renovated before we bought it, they took out the 2nd bathroom on the first floor
My house is pretty old - we think it was built in the 1930s. The bathtub is directly over the kitchen. Well for some reason, water keeps coming out of the shower and leaking onto the bathroom floor and then dripping down into the kitchen ceiling. So now my kitchen ceiling is bubbling and OMG when I step into the shower it CREAKS. I am so terrified that the tub with crash through the kitchen ceiling. I don't even know where to begin with this!
I am going to suggest to my DH that we put a bathroom (even if it is a cheapo one) in the basement in case God forbid the other one is out of commission for a while..
HELP!! Where do we even begin with this...

I would contact a plumber immediately! You could have to replace a lot of things if you don't fix the water problem now. GL!

Re: I may have a really big problem with my bathroom...
It is a great idea to set up a inexpensive bath in the basement. I personally would stop using the upstairs bath immediately. When we purchased our house both upstairs baths leaked. My wife and I each did one bath, mine cost me around 1,000.00 to make nice and water-tight, hers cost us around 7,000.00. personally I like mine best.

Hers is the small bath with all of the travertine and mine is Green.
Good luck and keep dry, Tom

Re: I may have a really big problem with my bathroom...
We had a leak for some time and couldn't figure it out when we moved in..we thought that maybe it was the shower pan or the shower body inside the wall....the leak actually came from a nice gap in the caulking in the tub...so check that out too..that's a cheap fix if that is the problem.

Have it checked out by a plumber, my DH mother had the same problem, she needed to redo the whole floor of the bathroom and the floor in the kitchen (downstairs under the bathroom). She wound up redoing her whole entire bathroom.
Hope everything works out.

My husband is a plumber. This is what I hear him tell people. Please this is just to check. Definately have someone professional check it out. He tells people to fill the tub with water and see if its leaks, if not, it very well could just be the caulking. Try it.
