Question About Apartment Leases
IHi- I just recieved my lease in the mail. And my 10 year old son is not on it.. I thought that all who will be living in the apartment must be on the lease.. Even if he is a minor..

I never heard that either. I thought the people whose names are on the lease are the ones responsible for paying rent?

I was never on the lease when I lived with my parents. After DH moved in with me, I made sure his name was on the lease.
We do however, have to fill out a separate form every time we renew the lease that has to list everyone who lives in the apartment. I think this is for lead paint checks/window guards; I think they're required by law in apartment buildings when a tenant has a child under a certain age living there (for buildings w/ over a certain number of units).

Call the leasing office to find out. It may be different by company, but my stepkids are on our lease.

A lease is a contract and by a person cannot enter into a contract until they are 18.

Have have a rental property they are a couple with a child. The only names on the lease are the couple, not the child, so far I have not run into any problems..

Our landlord was adamant about how only the people listed on the lease were allowed to live in the apartment. So if DH and I split and he moved out, I would not be able to just get a roommate. It would have to be cleared with them first. If your landlord does not care who lives there and only cares who pays the rent, I'm sure it's fine. They do know he lives there, right?
