Makeup experts, I need your opinions
My brother's wedding is coming up in the next few weeks and due to logistics my mother and I won't be getting our hair and makeup done with the rest of the bridal party and the MOB. Our hotel is closer to the catering hall than the bride's home and since I have to get my kids ready too I can't be driving all over NJ all morning. The bride is totally fine with this, not all the BMs are going to the salon and she's pretty laid back.
The hotel was able to recommend a local hair place, but they don't do makeup. I am not good at doing makeup at all, I don't even know what half the stuff is used for. So I was thinking of going to a makeup counter to have them show me how to apply and then buying what I need and doing it myself.
Which brands have the best trained makeup artists that will be able to teach me how to do it? I don't want to end up looking like a 5 year old who broke into her mommy's makeup case.
TIA!

you could go to the makeup counter at Nordstroms and see which you would like. Some of the consultants do make up on the side and my be able to come to the hotel to do your makeup.
Just a thought.
I've used Estee Lauder, Lamcome and MAC consultants before.
Sorry, I have no names for you though.

Re: Makeup experts, I need your opinions
I think it totally depends on what look you are going for.
MAC always has great artists, but the look tends to be more dramatic than natural. Chanel is nice too, but sometimes those people cake it on.
I personally love Lancome.
I think your best bet is to go to the local department store and wander around looking at the sales people's make-up, if you like how they did their own, you'll probably like how they do yours. And like the PP said, sometimes if you ask they will do make-up on the side and might come to you and your mom.

Thanks everyone! It's a Friday wedding in South Jersey, so I doubt they are going to want to go that far.
