Re: math teachers
I don't know if that would be something I would personally buy if I was teaching 7th grade math. Then again, every teacher has their own style.
I found my best resources to be the textbook and the resource material that comes with the textbooks.
When I taught pre-algebra in Florida I got some wonderful references, and I didn't need anything but the stuff that came with the text.

Re: math teachers
With the NYS assessment, a lot of the students lose points because they can't express mathematical concepts in a written form. If the activities are geared towards that, I would definitely get it!

I didn't even know about the NYS assesment, so that makes it even better. I just thought it would be fun for students to see math in a more creative way. I think it may be my first "teacher" purchase!

NYSED
If you dont already have the math assessment info....
ETA: i always like books to mix it up aside from the text, so that book might be nice!
