Hair coloring question: Any natural red heads out there?
I'm starting to see quite a few white hairs mounting and don't know what to do. I've never colored or highlighted b/c I didn't want to mess with my natural color but this is really starting to bug me. My question is this do I color my whole head or do I highlight? Can they cover grays just by highlighting? Do I suck it up and leave it alone? I know it will be hard if not impossible to replicate red as opposed to blond or brown or so I've been told by stylists for years which is why I'm so nervous.
My mom has always colored her hair for so long she doesn't know what color it is and she's always going on and on about how great she thinks white hair looks and if only she knew whether hers was white or grey then she'd let it go. Well mine are coming in and they're white which is kind of cool, I mean nicer than gray I suppose but still looks weird on a 30 year old I think. Plus my overall hair color seems to have dulled since having my first baby so I need something.

I'm not a redhead but my mom is. She uses Henna dye and does it at home. Henna is a natural reddish plant dye. She buys it at wild by nature and has been doing it for years, it looks totally natural.

You might be able to get away with just highlighting it like a strawberry blond. I think it would look great on you. Once you start dying your hair red it is very hard to keep up. It oxidizes so fast. I also hear ya on the dullness. My texture totally changed and I am just not so happy with it lately.

Interesting idea. I might try that. But Adrianna, I hear you on the highlighting. Seems less risky/traumatic, but of course more $$$. I'm dreading the prices I've seen. Plus that won't help the dullness I don't think.
