Need Help on Christmas Eve Dinner

Ok, Irish girl here needs some Italian help. I want to make lasanga. I know how to make it, but I have a couple of questions, how do you wet the noodles first so they don't break in the pot?

Does anybody have a basic foolproof sauce recipe?

Bets advice, Kerry - buy the oven bake ready lasagna noodles. No need to boil water or anything, just plce them as they are (hard) in the lasagna dish and scoop the meat, sauce and cheese out as you would regularly.

This is how I cook it and it makes life so much EASIER!

Is the sauc for lasagna just a basic tomato (not meat) sauce?

If so, I have a very easy, foolproof recipe. I can FM it to you later tonight when I get home... as I haven't managed to memorize it yet!

PS. I think they're on sale this week at Waldbaum's.

They are: on front page of ad they are at the bottom on sale for $.69/each.

Yes it did! I love it, and my husband loves his lasagna and LOVES how I make it.

yea the sauce is for the lasanga. Probably not a meat sauce being I'll being do the layer of ground beef sauteed with onions & garlic & seasoning, then the ricotta cheese, then the noodle, and on the top mozzarella.

Re: Need Help on Christmas Eve Dinner

The noodles use the natural juices from the meat/cheeses and the normal temperature to cook, so they taste like normal pasta when you slice and serve.

Re: Need Help on Christmas Eve Dinner

Cool beans, I'll def. check them out. I'm going food shopping Saturday, hoping I'll find them.

As for the lasanga, how long does it take to bake and if I'm having people over at 5PM (to eat at 5:30PMish), can I bake it earlier and reheat?

Re: Need Help on Christmas Eve Dinner

there is directions on the back of the box on how to use the noodles

You can bake the day before and then just reheat it when you need it.

Make sure you make lots of extra sauce to serve with the lasgana Chat Icon

Re: Need Help on Christmas Eve Dinner

I use sour cream and ricotta together. It makes it real creamy.

yup.. when I made my mom's lasagna the first time, it just didn't taste the same as hers. so I asked her to tell me what it was that was missing and it was the sour cream. Now I never leave it out. Chat Icon
