What to do about a child who moved unexpectedly...
I had a student who told me she was moving about an hour south of where we are now in January. I found out yesterday from the office, after relaying a rumor from a student, that they called home and mom (recently out of jail and back in her life) said that she was living in Guatamala with Dad (who was deported a while ago) and that she wasn't sure when she was coming back.
What should I tell my students? Just that she moved? Anything more specific?
I feel so bad for this girl. She's been a 2+ schools a year since she started (5th grader now). Mom's in an out of jail, and now she's moved out of the country (supposedly).

I would just tell them she moved - I don't think it's necessary for them to know specific details.

That's what I figured. I just didn't know if I should even mention that she moved to guatmala with dad - or just that she moved.
I'm sure that half of them know anyways... and that it's completely been blown out of proportion by now.
