The holidays

Why oh why has one day turned into a month of gluttony???? I can't take the temptations anymore!!!!! It's so incredibly important to me that I get fit and get healthy and all this stuff around me is just bringing me down.

Anyone else having a hard time this month? Any tips on dealing with it all? Chat Icon

It's that little voice in your head that's messing everything up! Your body doesn't need that food, but your brain is telling you, "yeah, go ahead and eat that....it's soooo good!"

You just have to get that little voice to shut up, and you'll be fine Chat Icon

I think Thanksgiving to New Years is one of the hardest times of years for anyone trying to lose. I think you just have to be kind to yourself and try to maintain and losing is an added bonus.
If you deprive yourself of everything you go bonkers. I know my goal is to try to lose a little but the main goal is not to gain anything.

ITA - for the time being, look at losing as a bonus. strive for maintenence. i know how you feel with all of the sweets and stuff around the office. i suggest that if you get some at home, bring them in. less for you and more for others will work in your favor

i'm in the same boat as you - tough, isn't it? but as my mom would say, if there's something u really want, eat it. b/c if you don't, you'll end up eating everything else in sight to make up for it and probably wind up eating more calories/fat than if you had just had the thing you wanted from the getgo.

thanks ladies Chat Icon

I'm feeling much better now. I think I was having a bad day because I had a lot of food thrown at me left and right.

I have lost 41.4 lbs since april and my one goal was to maintain just a 40+ loss by the new year (even if it's just 40.0!). I am happy that I have stuck with it this long and see no end in sight. It can just be frustrating sometimes!

Re: The holidays

I've been doing pretty well, I think.

I have a plan. I am not having any sweets until Christmas Day. My mom made cookies and I didn't have one yet. My job had LOADS of sweets, and I only had one piece of Godiva. It really is not difficult for me to say "no" knowing that I will be having some. But not some every day. Just some ONE day. I hope the scale shows my hard work paying off.
