This is not a joke.

The picture is of me and Charlemagne, my puppy mill dog, who died January 5, 2007.

This petition has been started to put an end to puppy mills abusing operations. It has also been started to put an end to pet stores that sell dogs bought from puppy mills and puppy brokers. I want to thank all of you wonderful people in advance for caring and truly making a difference. Please search the net for "Charlemagne's Law". Please view these upcoming bills in New York and support them


AO7766 - Makes it unlawful to conduct excessive breeding of dogs in an uncontrolled manner and location so as to be in a cruel and inhuman manner - http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A07766
AO8522/SO5608 - Provides that pet dealers or other persons shall not sell dogs purchased or received from a puppy farm - http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A08502,

Lorraine...I am so sorry for what your beloved pet endured before you had her. To those that continue to purchase from pet stores, shame, shame.

Currently there are so many small bred pedigree dogs at Animal Care and Control in Brooklyn and Manhattan. The majority at one time came from a pet store a/k/a puppy mill. Anyone that buys from a pet store is equally as guilty as the mill owner.

I hate to be graphic Steph but this is what goes on and stupid people can't see beyond their own wants to try to end this epidemic. I want a Labradoodle....I want a Yorkie and I want it now!

I read the article Denise Flaim wrote in Newsday and my heart breaks for you.

I admire your efforts to stop puppy mills and pet stores and truly pray that you are successful in your mission.

A puppy mill is a mass dog breeding facility that "breeds" dogs solely for greed and profit. We wish to educate the public so they can make informed decisions when purchasing a puppy. (Puppies, especially from pet stores, are likely to have been born in mills.) Charlemagne was a puppy mill dog bought at The Fish Bowl Pet Shop in Amityville NY. He died January 5, 2007 of kidney disease, a heart murmur and high blood pressure. He was 3 1/2 years old. The owner of that store told me to "Get Over It" when I told him Charlemagne died. A million thank you's. Charlemagne meant everything to me because he made me a better person. I did my best and spared no expense trying to save him but I could not. Thank God for people like yourself who have comforted me and worked for the same things. It will be a year on January 5th and New Years Eve last year is when he started the downward spiral. I will continue to keep pushing this message of puppy mills and pet stores being no good. Qiute disgusting and evil actually. You will see more of me nationally as I plan to work with The American Bar Association coming 2008. I am also working with Gregory Ball of the NYS Assembly to get his anti puppy mills bills to the floor. Oh what a terrible story.

What I don't understand is all those who defend the pet stores don't seem to get it, even though we post all these stories.

because like someone else said, they just HAVE to have a cockapoo, labradoodle or whatever other type of "designer dog" is out there

I hate to judge but I must say that people who buy from pet stores knowing that they come from puppy mills infuriate me

We got Katie from a "breeder". The man said his brother in law breeds them in Ireland. Later I find out that Ireland is notorious for puppy pills.
