Re: How long can you keep eggs....
It really depends upon how cold they were kept...
Crack them open..if the yolk is still nice and "domed" your good to go...if it's flatish..ditch em..

Put the egg in a glass of salted, cold water. I think if it floats, it's bad and if it sinks, it's good.

good test that works. store bought eggs are often 30 days old at the time the hit the grocery store shelves, then they usually have another 30 days or so till they expire. I wouldn't use them much past the date, maybe a few days.

Only thing is, water doesn't have to be salted according to a book I have on food/recipes, etc. Has something to do with the egg proteins and air getting into the egg. I use this test all the time since I can't keep track of how long my eggs are in my fridge. Never steered me wrong yet.
So fill up a clear container/glass of water.
Slowly drop the egg in. A fresh egg will sink to the bottom and lay there.
A semi fresh egg will float on it's side, sort of standing up on one end.
A rotten egg will float entirely. No reason to throw them out if they pass this test.
