He is such a cute little boy- and very blessed to have such a loving and thoughtful mom. I think you are doing all of the right things!!!!

The smile on your son's face says it all... you are doing a great job Mommy and with you hard work and dedication/devotion to Johnny, he's going to thrive

Just remember, early intervention is key, and you are doing everything you possibly can to set him up for success.
And, also, I like to think that the children who have obstacles to overcome and have to struggle to get there, are the ones who do great things with their lives. I had serious disabilities when I was younger. But, like you, my mother advocated for me, got me the services I needed, and through those struggles, I rose to the top. These are the experiences that build character, compassion and integrity in our children

It must be so hard for you right now. We all want our kids to have it easy and not have to struggle. Luckily, you have early interventions that WILL make it easier for him down the road. Just keep thinking that this is such a short phase in his life and that it will get better.
It's got to be hard- feel free to FM if you ever need to talk

You know what Johnny has that a lot of other kids DO NOT have? He has a FABULOUS and LOVING mother who gives her heart and soul to helping him become the best possible person.
He's a lucky kid and you are a lucky mom. Remember that if nothing else!

Reading through these replies just now made me tear up again...
Thank you to everyone for picking me up today...I was really down and having a bad day and this made me feel a lot better...
To those of you going through a similar situation and feel like your heart is breaking....may you continue to have faith that everyday brings a new start and that your kids have great parents who love them more than life itself...I know our kids will be OK and it really makes me stop and take pride in all the things he does...little OR big!
Thanks again ladies. I will continue to update and post when I need to...lord knows I know there will be more tough times ahead, but right now I am really trying to concentrate on the many many good days there have been!!

What a beautiful picture Maureen....I know you must feel sad some days but try and focus on the positive! He is doing SO well in such a short time! It will only continue to get better I'm sure! He's always in my prayers.

First off, Johnny is adorable!!!!! And I am so glad I read your post. I have been feeling like this lately. I feel like Matteo is 'younger' than kids his age. So sweet, so loving, but the tantrums because he can't express himself is just so hard to deal with.
You are doing great. Thanks for posting too, it helped me as well as you!!

geez do i love that kid!  he gets cuter and cuter every day!
johnny is an amazing little boy who has 2 amazing parents and a huge, supportive group of family and friends. he WILL "catch up" and probably run circles around all his friends one day!
i know one day i will get a call with you saying "OMG johnny will not stop talking, it is making me crazy!!" that day WILL happen, hopefully soon!!
i've told you this a million times already, but i think you are an amazing mom and john is an amazing dad for what the 2 of you are doing for johnny. he is thriving and making such incredible progress---and he has you two to thank for that!
i can't imagine how hard this is for the 2 of you, but i know that your hard work and dedication will pay off, and it already has started!!

I wanted to let you know that you are not alone/
My daughter also suffered from a speech delay and was placed in a special education class in preschool and its been a year, and she has improved so much, she talks better, she is more outgoing, her school has truly been a lifesaver and i know everything happens for a reason and in no way, im ashamed of her because i know that every kid is different, but im very grateful that she has gotten the help she needs.
Everything will be okay, you will see
