How long do your migraines last?

Ugh since y'day afternoon I had this horrible throbbing on the side of my head with slight nausea.

As soon as I take Tylenol it gets better but it keeps coming back.

I wake up this morning and the throbbing is back again so bad it woke me up.

How long does a migraine typically last for you if you suffer from them?

Have you tried Excedrin Migrane? I find that is the only over the counter product that works for me. My migranes have lasted for days usually with stress and humidity. Try lots of water, sleep, and a dark room. Feel better!

Mine would last a long time(probably more than a day) if it wasn't for taking prescription imitrex. I know when it's 'that type' of headache and I need to take something.

I was going to suggest excedrin as well- we live on that stuff in our house- it's our "cure all" and it works

but I see you can't take it

Have you tried a cold compress and laying the dark? that helps

i actually have it at home but i am getting a biopsy monjday and they told me to avoid anything but tylenol 3 days before..timing stinks

im just hoping it goes away soon- i usually feel better in the morning but this morning the headache was still there

i get chronic migranes

without taking motrin or excedrin, what helps is laying in the dark, compresses, and COFFEE

can you call your Doc and ask if you can take something else since you're suffering so much?

Usually it will start in the evening and by the following evening, I'm all better, so for me, it's usually an entire 24 hours. I have a Rx for Relpax that works like a gem, but it really makes me crazy, drowsey, and out of my mind. 3 Aleve usually does the trick as well... and sleep!

Tylenol does not work for me. I usually take 2 aleve (or imitrex if it is really bad), put a cold compress on my head and lay down and take a nap. It is usually gone when I wake up.

Maybe try calling the doctor and advise them of the situation. I would not prolong a migraine any more than necessary (vascular phenomenon). I usually take excedrine Migraine as well. Tylenol is just a pain killer, but does not treat the root of the problem, hence the aspirin. Dark room and compess is good, but I think trying contacting the doctors office and see if there is something they suggest.

Also, I have been told this works: try putting ice cubes on your back molars for a few minutes. My dad saw this on the news. It only worked once for me, but it has helped others I know a lot more.

I can't do Excedrin Migraine because I can't have any type of caffeine. I usually do Motrin when I first feel it or have an aura. Then, it takes a good 24 hours before it's completely gone.

I agree with all the women above who said try some caffeine. Caffeine dilates your blood vessels allowing more blood into the brain. That's why when you try to break a caffeine addiction you get massive headaches.

Most migraine meds (OTC) have caffeine in them. Try a little and if you do something like coffee or tea, the warmth always makes me feel better too!!

I've been suffering from Migraines since i'm 6...they can last a couple of hours to a couple of days....keep taking meds and lay in the dark..the light makes it more painful and feel more prevalent.

Ugh, it stinks that you can only take Tylenol! Try a cold compress and laying down. Caffeine may also help too.

Another remedy I use is Earth Therapeutics headache relief. You put a dab on your temples and the aromatherapy is relaxing and soothing. You can find it at Ulta.

Mine won't go away unless I take 800 mg of Advil - that's 4 pills!! I also have to be laying down in a cool, dark room. My longest one lasted 4-6 hours. That was long enough

i had one yesterday that lasted ALL day... about 12hours. liuckily, i was able to sleep most of it off.
