I'm a SAHM, but DH never has. The kids were both born at times where companies/sectors he covers tend to report earnings so it's really hard to take off.

Re: Do you take off from work for your DC's birthday?

I was just thinking about this. I was stressing about whether or not I should make cupcakes to bring to daycare...but maybe I should just take the day off, and spend it with DD instead!

Re: Do you take off from work for your DC's birthday?

I already did.

I only work p/t, but I want to have family over for pizza/cake for her actual b-day. The party will be that weekend.

Yes, his is Friday and I am off. We're going to do something fun all together (DH too). Who knows if we can do it every year, but I'd like to :)

I took off the day before his party when he was 1. This year his b-day was on a Mon and I could not get off from work but was able to take off the Fri before and DH & I spent the whole day with him.

Re: Do you take off from work for your DC's birthday?

Yes, both DH and I took the day off. DH because it was DS's first birthday. Me because there is nowhere I'd rather be than with DS on his birthday.

Wow, I am surprised at the replies.

No, I would not purposefully take the day off from work. I would be sure to celebrate their birthday, but I don't think it constitues needing a day off from work. JMHOChat Icon

I agree.

I am a SAHM so obviously it doesn't apply to me but DH never took the day off...

I agree... I also never get why people take their own birthday off just for the sake of taking a day off.
