How long does wine stay good for?

I have mini bottles of Sutter Home white zinfandel left over from my wedding in June 2006. Do you think they are still good or should I just throw them out?

wine only gets better with age - as long as it is stored properly and unopened.

This is a common misconception. Not ALL wine gets better with age -- and even those that do hit a peak and eventually get worse with age.

White wines generally won't last much more than a year (maybe two) after they are released -- and that's if they are appropriately stored. If they are in clear bottles (as opposed to opaque), the chances are even less that it's going to last a long time. You CAN still drink them - they probably just won't taste too good.

Many red wines don't last much more than 3 or 4 years tops after bottling (e.g., you don't want a 10 year old Chianti Classico). Certain types of reds, of course, get much better with longer age. Brunellos, for example, may peak after 10 years, sometimes a bit longer. Very few wines are great after 10 or 15 years, though those that are will be $$$$...

You can actually look up when it's good and best to drink a certain bottle of wine. I think there's a web site... I'll have to see if I can find it.

agreed. if they were screw caps, you might have a better chance of them being ok than if it was a cork, but its going to be iffy.

White wines and especially a blush should be chilled, and kept no more than a week after it's been opened.

DUMP THEM.
