oh. my. god....
they redid our math pacing guide...
Here's my 1st quarter...
multiplication is first, then place value, followed by division, and then we start comparing fractions, decimals, percents.
What? Seriously? It doesn't make sense!?!?!?!?

i think it should be place value, multiplication, then some with multiples and factors, then division, then fractions, then decimals, then the comparison.
i say as long as you get it all done, do it in any order you want. although that seems like a heck of a lot in one quarter!

OMG, tell me about I teach first and in the first quarter the kids are suppose to be adding 2 digit numbers!!! Yeah and we won't teaching adding and subtracting single digits till the 2nd quarter!! They really weren't looking at the whole picture when they made these pacing guides, I don't know about you, but our whole school is in a tissy about it!!!

We have issues like this too in an upstate school district- we heard they hired literacy coaches to re-write all the subjects.
Our 3rd gr math outline follows a test prep workbook where we teach division before multiplying and counting by 2's and 5's after place value to the millions

No this is in Northern VA
They just redid the pacing guides... and we HAVE to teach them in this order due to these county tests that they give once a quarter based on what's supposed to be taught.
I mean, we have a little wiggle room, but we have to have certain lessons done by the first test in October.
