Now how do I handle this situation???
I start my new part time job on Monday. I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
My DH started a new job 3 weeks ago.
My kids go to daycare the 3 days I work. Daycare is closed for Columbus day, but both of our offices are open.
What do we do? We don't have family that can watch them. We are both scared to ask for the day off since we are soooo new.

Ask if one of their teachers is interested in babysitting on off hours. That way you will have someone for all the holidays you don't have off but daycare is closed and maybe get a date night once in awhile.

Honestly I would just tell them the day you go in that you need that day off. That is what I used to do.
I will be upstate otherwise I would have watched them for you

I asked one teacher this morning and she said she couldn't. Alot of them have their own kids home from school....but I'll keep asking. Great idea!!

Would you feel comfortable asking any of the other parents what they plan on doing? (and maybe your kids can tag along! )
Edit: I see you just started your job, so you probably don't know the other parents very well. Keep the idea for a later date!

Re: Now how do I handle this situation???
all great ideas!!!
My mom and MIL both work that day.
Most of the other mom's at my daycare are teachers so they have off.
I can't switch days (per the daycare rules) but I'll ask and see if they can make an exception even if I have to pay extra for it.

But then who will watch the kids on Tuesday?
I am starting a part time job and only work Monday, Wednesday and Friday (they go to daycare) and have the kids home with me on Tuesday and Thursday.

Where are you located... I'm a substitute teacher (and a mom... LOL) and have off on all school holidays. If you need help I have no problem babysitting and I'm sure my daughter (7 months old) would love a playdate!

You are too sweet. Unfortunately I live in Putnam County. If I lived in LI I would leave them with my brother.

PArents arenot always the best option. YOu really have to know them well in my opinion. I almost asked a friend, another parent from my sons school, to watch my little one. But I decided to let my son have a play date there first. He never wanted to go back and when I saw how laid back the mother was I realized it probably would not be a safe environment for my baby. She is a really nice person, bt I think it definately would have been way to much for her. I would not just assume that a parent is a good idea if you do not know what is going on at home.

Re: Now how do I handle this situation???
I actually have a friend in putnam county who babysits and has references. If you get desperate, let me know and I will ask her. SHe has two children who she would have to bring and lives in Mahopac.
