Teachers who are or who have been pregnant
Hi! Let me preface this by saying that I work in a private all-girls school, and teach 9th & 12th grade. I am about 10 weeks pregnant, and am debating when to tell my students I am pg. The staff already knows. I was going to try to get to get to right before Thanksgiving break & then tell them, but as this is my third child, I'm pretty sure I am going to start showing earlier (my jeans are already kinda tight). I would rather have control over the situation by telling them than have them ask & get put on the spot, KWIM? Does anyone have any advice?

I told mine around 18 weeks or so when I thought I was showing.
I am so glad I did because they were SO supportive and enthusiastic. I liked having the control rather then hearing whispers "Mrs M. is preg!" and having them "guess"
It was really nice to share the experience with them

Re: Teachers who are or who have been pregnant
I would tell them. I also teach 9th and 12th grade and feel they are mature enough to handle it. Last year when I was pg I didn't say anything because summer was coming. I was also 10 weeks at the end of june and some of the students started whispering. It was kind of annoying....

Re: Teachers who are or who have been pregnant
Hey, I also taught in a private all-girls high school! I taught 11th and 12th. Anyhow...I believe it was around 13 weeks that I noticed girls staring and whispering. The next thing you know, they came up to me and asked! Pretty nervy, huh? I denied it, but decided to go straight to my principal the next day with the news...and I told the girls too. That was my first pregnancy. With my 2nd, I told everyone there around 8 weeks. I bloated up more quickly and I wasn't feeling too great on a few occasions. I figured they would put it together so... As it was, 2 seniors came up at the end of class and said, "Oh thank goodness...we were hoping you weren't just getting fat!" Teenagers...gotta love them!
You know teenage girls--they're judging your clothes and appearance all day long as you stand up there!! I'd be comfortable saying something at this point.
Good luck!

Re: Teachers who are or who have been pregnant
i didn't tell anyone at work before 12 weeks. i told the staff at 12/13 weeks and the kids at 20 weeks.
if something had happened with my pregnancy, it would have been horrible to have to explain it to them. they wouldn't have understood. i decided to wait until my level 2 before telling parents and students.
if i had been showing, i still wouldn't have told before 12 weeks. i was too worried.

Re: Teachers who are or who have been pregnant
Last year, I told my kids at 20 weeks. I told work at 12. I am pregnant again and I want to wait until about 18 to tell the people at work, the kids will know after that. I teach HS and MS.
