I was contemplating facebook...it is way too addicting for me.

I don't know if I can do it though, although I would be MUCH more productive! Chat Icon

Re: LENT--what are you giving up (if you celebrate it)?

Rather than giving up, I actually do something good.

I go to church normally once a week, but during Lent I go two or more times a week.

My DH and I are going to brainstorm either giving up something or doing something good for the 40 days.

Anymore ideas?

Not giving up.. but making an effort to be better.

I am going to be much more tolerant of my MIL and Sister.. both metally ill and exhausting. I have very little patience. Soooo.. I am making a good effort to be nicer and more tolerant of them. Chat Icon

Re: LENT--what are you giving up (if you celebrate it)?

I think I am going to try to give up chocolate this year... unfortunately, that will take pretty much ALL of my will power. All of it. Every last ounce. I really, truly love chocolate.

The one time I may crack is at my friend's wedding this coming Saturday. I think they are having chocolate cake, and I have a superstition that you MUST at least have one bite of the wedding cake... Chat Icon

Re: LENT--what are you giving up (if you celebrate it)?

this year I have a lenten calendar that has scripture readings and meditations- so I am doing that. I am also going to be giving more to our local food pantry (b/c part of fasting is also giving to those in need)....

I'm also going to try and not gossip/talk negatively about others.

Since I am pregnant, I have been firced to give up my two big vices! Chat Icon

but seriously, for Lent, I try to do more good things rather than giving something up. this year, i would like to focus on praying more and going to Mass more than just the once a week on Sundays.

Re: LENT--what are you giving up (if you celebrate it)?

I haven't decided what i'm giving up yet...

However, I will go to Church every Sunday as well as not eat meat on Wednesday's and Friday's and learn a new prayer by heart.

this is my favorite prayer that most people dont know by heart:

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy!
Our life, our sweetness, and our hope!
To thee do we cry, poor banished
children of Eve, to thee do we send
up our sighs, mourning and weeping
in this valley, of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
thine eyes of mercy toward us; and
after this our exile show unto us the
blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus;
O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.

Pray for us, O holy Mother of God

That we may be made worthy of the
promises of Christ.

I say eat the cake. My birthday is always during lent and I have given up sweets several times with the exclusion of cake on my birthday. I think that God understands....Chat Icon
