Re: Bottle Sterilizing

Dishwasher.... gets them just as sterile as any "sterilizer".

The second you take the bottle out of either the dishwasher or the sterilizer, and expose it to the air, it is no longer sterile.

We save a ton of time and money by just using the dishwasher. Chat Icon

Same here too. I only sterilized them once-- when I took them (and sippy cups) out of the original package. After that, I just ran them through the dishwasher.

Re: Bottle Sterilizing

I use Avent bottles with my DD so I bought the Avent Sterilizer and use it after pretty much every wash.

Re: Bottle Sterilizing

Pot of water for the 1st sterilization.
After that, we wash with soap and water, and once a week they go in the dishwasher.

Us too! We dont run the dishwasher often enough so the pot of water was the best and easiest way for us!

I sterilized DDs bottles and nipples a few times in the beginning since she was in the NICU for 8 days and I wanted to make sure she didn't get sick from the random germs and such. I also sterilized her stuff a time or two when she had a cold and ear infection in Jan. The microwave sterilizer bags made by Medela are fantastic and very easy! Not too expensive either! The box comes with 5 bags and you can use each bag 20 times.

Re: Bottle Sterilizing

Our pediatrician said that we did not need to sterilize every time we use the bottles. Just the very first time. I still sterilize every week. I either put them in a pot of boiling water (for 3 min once boiling) or run through the dishwasher when I'm going ot turn it on.
