Re: In your opinion...Does it pay to have your house painted professionally...
I am on the fence. I told DH I will be little to no help with it.
every wall is beige.
I want dining, kitchen(very small), LR, our bedroom, stairs and hall done.
bathrooms can wait.
I have my 2 year old and babysit another all day. Mine has asthma problems, I don't know what fumes will do to him.
DH works 60 hours a week. I won't suggest paying yet...I am hoping he cracks first.

As long as you use low-VOC or no-VOC paint, fumes aren't an issue, since there are no fumes.

If it is the entire house it is totally worth it.
Totally agree! We did it b/c we had limited time and did the first room and it took us FOREVER. It was the best money we spent when moving!

Re: In your opinion...Does it pay to have your house painted professionally...
I think we maybe in the minority. We are looking forward to painting all 3,800 square feet of our home... More money in our pockets to spend else where is how we are looking at it. It helps that I will have off for a complete week and a half when we are planning on doing it.
But ask me after we complete painting and I may have another opinion!

We're thinking the same thing! Ask me in a few months whether it's worth it. I'd just rather put those thousands of dollars towards something else.

Re: In your opinion...Does it pay to have your house painted professionally...
I think it depends on whether you need to move in right away and if you have time to paint it yourself.
We hired a professional because we had sold our condo and we needed to be out and in our new house in a short period of time. It was so worth it, the house really didn't need any other work so we invested the $ in a painter.

I honestly think ANYTHING is worth paying a professional to do IF you have the extra money and you don't ENJOY the project. -
ITA! We usually splurge in other areas and do the painting ourselves. But with 2 kids finding the time is an issue

Re: In your opinion...Does it pay to have your house painted professionally...
DH and I are having this dispute now. He is very handy and can do 99% of the work on the house, but the problem is he never does it! He is tired, he is working, blah blah and 3 years later we are nowhere. I am almost done convincing him we need help!

I definitely believe it's worth it if time is limited. This is something you want done and over with especially if you have small children..
I agree. We had 2 rooms professionally done and they were in & out in like 3 hours. It would have taken us 2 days. And DD would have been a huge mess since she'd have to be in the middle of everything.
