We were told there will definitely be room changes and chances are, I'm one of those room changes. I have a TON of stuff!!! I can't imagine having to move, but I know it will be a good thing, but I def. will take some moving tips for precautionary measures!

I've moved several times. My advice would be to label each box carefully so you know exactly which boxes to unpack together. As you're packing, make sure you're weeding through your stuff and not packing things that you don't actually use. It's actually a great excuse to organize and purge yourself of things that you don't need!

Get thee those blue rubbermaid bins and a sharpie (i actually tape index cards to the bins because im non-committal like that) and really weed through what you haven't used in a year's time (same rule as clothes!)

bring in your granny shopping cart(s) is what I did..there is also the cart that the science teacher uses or there's one in the cafeteria (I know for a fact since I used it when I came back from my honeymoon and had to move that day!) Also..you can always enlist kids!

Def. with furniture.

I was thinking about it this morning. I'm totally speculating about moving, but it seems like a big chance. I think I will have to do a whole assembly line thing, like each kid takes a basket of stuff, or a small set of books. Chat Icon I can't imagine how funny that will look.

I have done that..the kids actually like it..just have an organized child on the end that's putting things away...towards the end of the year, it's something that you can even get away with..haha...as for custodians moving...furniture is about it with them, at my school, I'm afraid...

LABEL EVERYTHING! you'd be surprised what magically "walks" away. Also, if you have classroom furniture that is your personal property or was personally ordered for you, i would label that too. people see furniture in the hallway and they think it's fair game.

Re: Possibly moving my room...need some tips just in case!

We had to move to our new unit in another building last year. Thankfully we had guys (kids' dads) help us & then some stuff the 8th graders moved.

We put everything we could in plastic totes & I put a paper on each of what was in it & my last name.

Anything from my desk, etc. I labeled desk.

I'm trying to think what else....it wasn't fun though but was real nice starting fresh. We went through a lot of garbage & tossed stuff.
