dr's appointments and your work schedule

how are you working this out? going on lunch breaks? leaving early? going after work?

the nurses at my dr's office keep saying they're open after 5 and how there are times that theyre there till 8-9pm. but every time i need to make an appt they tell me it has to be before 5pm. but i work till 5pm! my boss has been supportive but i dont want to abuse her kindness and leave work early once a month for my dr's appts.

how are you guys working out your appts?

I am really of no help here. My doctor's office was able to schedule all of my appointments out for months at a time and was able to give almost all Saturdays.

I didn't have this issue, but I honestly do think as long as your work is done and you aren't passing the buck onto someone else, your manager will be fine.

I always go after work. But I am a teacher and can get to the doctor's office by 3:30 pm.

I always went the first appointment of the day if possible, otherwsie at lunchtime. But my Drs. office was a 2 minute drive from my office.

This is a problem with me also. Everytime I make an app't they give me 2:00. I really can't keep leaving work. I'm just going to tell them next time I can't leave work early and see if they can fit me in.

I do 8am appts -- that usually gets me into work by 9-ish

All of my appts have been at 6PM.

And I've done sonos on the weekend.


ETA: I have no choice to book this way - I am not at my job long enough and have not accrued and sick/personal/vacation time yet.

My doctor's office had evening hours but if I really needed to I would leave work early.

my first appointment was supposed to be scheduled at 6:15pm which would work out perfectly, but they just called me today to reschedule! So i had to change it to 10:30 on a friday....i just decided i am going to call in sick that day.

i COULD take a half day....but the way my boss is she will prob give me just as much work to do when i get in as i would have if i would be there a full day...it's not worth it! I hope i don't need to make a habit out of calling in sick...the office said it should be fine for the other appointments, but since the first appt is long that was the only way they could do it.

This is why I had to tell my boss the other. Can't keep coming up with excuses to need off for appointments.

My doctor actually works the same exact schedule as me. It's soooooo inconvenient. I'm off Wednesday mornings and all day Friday's, and so is she. So I always have to take off work when I have an appt.
I start work at 9am so I always try and get the earliest appt they have at the dr's office, which is usually around 8:30. Which causes me to show up to work about 45 minutes late. My work, luckily, has been very understanding but I'm nervous for when I start having to go to the doctor once a week. Oh well....

i only work three days a week, so i schedule my appts on tues or fri when i am off..

I scheduled far into my pregnancy so that I could get as many late appointments as possible. When I can't, I usually take half a vacation day. It is not ideal, but I make it clear that I am getting my work done on my own time if need be

I made all of my regular OB visits after my first visit, waaaay in advance. The evening appointments book-up so fast!
