I really can't understand...
How someone could NOT know they are PG. Ok, fine, I get no nauseau, no food cravings, maybe even just a little weight gain.
But, there is absolutely no mistaking the constant pummeling going on in my belly. It makes me jump a little every time, it's that forceful, and to the point where I can see my belly and shirt moving a little, and I'm only 24 weeks! How could someone mistake that???

Re: I really can't understand...
I was wondering that myself. I think maybe heavier women have more padding and don't feel the kicking, but since 22 weeks DH has seen the kicks through my shirt from across the room.

Re: I really can't understand...
See- here's my take..
I can see if I didn't do IVF and wasn't TRYING to get pregnant...I could possibly have no clue right now that I was pregnant. I am 19 weeks tomorrow and had zero symptoms, and am not really showing yet (depending on the time of day ). I also haven't felt anything yet.
On the other hand, once that baby starts kicking like crazy...they have to at least WONDER what's going on...never mind the incredible protruding belly...

Re: I really can't understand...
I assume you are referring to that show last night.....
I think if you are really overweight, and I mean REALLY overweight, you wouldn't show because the baby would be hiding underneath all of the fat, disguising everything.
And if they eat a lot, maybe they think all the movement is just gas.

Yeah, I felt the same at 19 weeks. I felt kicks, but I could see how they could be mistaken for something else. But now, at 24 weeks, I mean, seriously, I can almost feel a foot pounding on my stomach. Every little kick makes me jump in my seat and you can see my belly and shirt moving! There's no way you can chalk that up to gas or anything else!

It's called stupidity - plain and simple.
Sorry - but you know SOMETHING is up with your body ........
I am completely oblivious to everything -I have had a farily easy pregnancy - however, there was NO mistaking teh changes going on in my body !!!

I don't get it either. I think they know but are in complete denial.
What did they think that bizarre feeling in that rip cage & the movement across their entire body was? Gas?

Re: I really can't understand...
I think the word is denial. Sorry but I'm plus size and there is NO way someone wouldn't know I'm pregnant. I have only gained about 11 lbs so far (when bloated and as little as 9lbs other days). I have a huge bump that is unmistakable and this baby kicks all day long nonstop putting DD to shame. I'm almost 31 weeks btw. I have been showing for a while now and this baby looks like alien is in my stomach so it isn't just kicks.

Re: I really can't understand...
Actually, I have a friend who was on BC and got PG. She is slightly overweight, not tremendous and she knew something was wrong with her stomach. She kept going to the Dr. about it and they never thought to run a PG test - of course she was on the pill so how could she be PG. Anyway, the sent her for an abdominal sonogram and that's when they saw the baby...she was around 5 months.
I have another friend who is tiny, was really, really sick and didn't notice she wasn't getting her period. She was going for testing to see if there was a problem with liver enzymes and the Dr. ran a PG test as a precaution.. she was PG, she counted back and realized she was approx. 3 months when she found out.
It does happen....but I think at a point after 5 months when you can feel the baby moving, it becomes either denial or stupidity.

Re: I really can't understand...
There has to be a point when you realize. I would say definitly by 4-5 months theres really no way you could say that you dont know.

But these women BOTH knew somethin was 'off' with their bodies and went to the Dr. - i'm not saying people automatically assume "Oh yes, I MUST be PG" ........but you know SOMETHING is 'off' ........

Re: I really can't understand...
Yeah with the way this baby kicks and rolls around there is NO mistaking that there is a person in there. I can't believe that people really don't know, I think they are just in some sort of denial.

Re: I really can't understand...
Not everyone feels kicks or movements early on. Some people feel them later because of the position of their placenta. Just sharing.

Re: I really can't understand...
Well some of those women where told you are never having children... and for years and years and years and years they never did get pregnant, so why would they even SUSPECT pregnancy.
Also, if you have things like IBS you could totally mistake movement for that.
And if you have extra belly padding you do not see any movement on your belly and your belly doesnt get rock hard. You will maybe see some outside movement past 33 weeks or so.
