Re: Anybody else have the itch?
This is funny. Last week i went to my primary care doc and he asked if we were practicing safe sex. Well I said no we dont use any contraceptives and that I was taking prenatals. I was like We arent going to really start trying until July or August and he laughed at us. He said since your not using any protection you are trying!! LOL.. It was funny. But iam 27 and DH is 28. We want to have a child and will make it work no matter what. Right now we live in a 1 bedroom apt. but will move if the time comes. I cant not wait.....!!

We both want kids.
BUT, we need a house first. We have a 1 Br apt. and last I heard, it wasnt "proper" to make a baby sleep in a dresser drawers instead of a cribs (not that there is any drawer space either)
Hopefully we can start trying in about a year from now.
It is possible to set up a nursery nook in the bedroom. My good friend is planning on this since they haven't bought a house and there is a waiting list for 2BR apartments.
We'd move into a 2BR apartment, buy a condo and as a last resort probably make a nook like my friend.

Re: Anybody else have the itch?
Hell to the NO!
We didn't live together before marriage and want to enjoy our time together and travel before we have kids.
We've been going back and forth for about 4 months now trying to decide when/if we're getting a bunny rabbit.
So no kids for at least 3 years. We're 29.

Re: Anybody else have the itch?
Yes and lately a lot. When we first married we said we would wait a year or two before we started trying and now that I can't have it I want it now with DH being out of work. But, I believe that everything happens for a reason and besides that DH isn't ready just yet.

Nope not me
right there with ya Kim. DH wanted kids badly before he met me and my large kid filled family and now he says a dog will be good enough.
Our story too!!
I couldn't be happier.. I think it is a lot of work and money. And we are just not ready for that.

my DH has been rubbing my imaginary belly - he loves the idea of me being pregnant for some reason and i can see that b/c i think it would be cute too BUT we both know that once the baby is born its a totally different story! so that is a big part of why we want to wait a year or so

Re: Anybody else have the itch?
Absolutely not. We had said we'd start about a year after the wedding, but as time went on we kept pushing it back. So right now we tell people in 4 years we'll start trying, so by the time our 5th anniversary comes around, I'll be preggers.
We want to travel and save money at the same time. I get more excited right now planning trips than the thought of having a baby. We want to go to Hawaii for our 1st anniversary, and are going to try to plan a trip to travel around Europe next summer, and these are things we wouldnt be able to do if we have children right now.
Don't get me wrong, my mom bought a piglet baby outfit for "my lil girl" because she "had to get it" since you never see any piglet stuff. And i'd get all mushy thinking of having a lil girl. BUT i snap out of that real quick

OH man. You brought me right back down to earth. There are a couple of trips I want to do too. LIke a romantic cruise, Mexico, Florida Keys. I still want a baby sooner rather than later but we keep trying to be patient. It's so hard when everyone around you is pregnant, at least it feels that way. But if we can wait a few years we can spoil him/her as a baby!! We can do the whole nursery, lots of toys, I could probably wait longer before returning to work etc...

I need that every once in a while too I just know that there are so many places I want to travel to first, alone with DH, before we have kids. I mean, when we have children, I want to be able to travel with them and have them experience different cultures, because I was never taken out of the country. But i want to be alone with my new hubby for a while longer.
We'll see what happens when all my best friends who are getting married start popping them out, because they are all talking about starting to try within the next 12-18 months, hopefully I wont get the itch then

Re: Anybody else have the itch?
No! I am 100% selfish! We have only been together 2.5 yrs, married 10 months and are just having a great time with one another. I enjoy our daily routines and going away as we please and I'd actually like to travel a bit more before any babies.
Also I am just petrified of having a baby - like the whole process. I just am so scared and not ready. I am 29 and will prob wait 1.5-2 yrs to try.

Re: Anybody else have the itch?
I like being able to go out on a Saturday night come home at 4am not be worrying about finding a babysitter. I like my freedom..go on vacation whenever we want, have friends over etc. Once we have kids that won't be happening! We're probably going to start trying in 2010. I should also mention that I am PETRIFIED of giving birth!

NOPE!
I had the itch from like age 19 until we got married. Now I am fully slathered in Cortisone. Not an itch anywhere!!!!!!!
hhmm, I wonder if that has anything to do w/ a certain puppy thsat wakes you at the butt crack of dawn
Nah....I just really had this complete change of mindset. I used to think I wanted nothing more than to be a mom. Now I get physically ill thinking about it! I cannot imagine having a kid around 24/7. Uck. Not for me!
