Hyundai Tuscon
Does anyone have a Hyundai Tuscon? DH & I were looking into buying one. We have a 15month old DD & need room for a car seat & stoller in the trunk.
Thanks

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
My friend at work has a 2006 with 36k and loves it.
My neighobr on the left of me has a 2006 and loves there and the neighbor on the right of me has a 2007 and loves theirs too.
Also look at the Kia Sportage. It is built by Hyundai. Everything is the same mechanically....the inside is a little bigger and the body is wider than the Tuscon

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
We went to buy the Tucson and ended up with a Santa Fe and we love it! We are so happy we bought the bigger car especially now that we are expecting #2. I find it very easy to drive and park.

I have an 07 Tuscon and I love it!!! No kids yet so I can't tell you about how a car seat fits. It is roomy and comfortable. The Santa Fe is nice too and will have more room. Good luck!!

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
I dont have it, but wanted to say I have a 15 month old DS and we are looking at the Santa Fe....its roomier and I think probably more practical if you plan on having more kids in the future.
I want something that would fit 2 car seats comfortably.

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
This is true, but Hyundai makes their vehicles in George and Alabama. Plus, Honda has a plant in Indiania cause I passed it last year on the way to Indianapolis. The company is Korean, but they hire American people and put our cars together on American soil.

Alrighty Kevin, or shall I call you stick?
The Hyundai cars have awesome safety, especially for their price. They also have good gas mileage for their size. Go ahead and compare those!
This is why we chose to go with the Hyundai cars. And I agree with Betsy above too.
But I still like you!

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
We looked at it before I got my car. I ended up with a Honda CRV. The trunk was just too small in the Tuscon for a stroller and other gear. The Santa Fe was bigger but it was more $$.

I like you both too but...
If you look at the comparison I linked you'll see that the patriot gets better mileage.
As for safety that's bullsh!t, excuse my french. Cindy was rear ended on the LIE at a low rate of speed an the car was totaled.
She was rear ended with the Liberty and it was minor damage at about the same rate of speed. This is real life experience not a sales pitch.
Regarding them being assembled in the US, great but you are still pumping money into another countries economy.
All I'm saying is that there are viable comparable vehicles made in America and that anyone in the market for a new car should at least look at American made.
I promise you that we looked long and hard when we bought our car. We plan on getting another in the next year or so and will take everything into account.
ALso, the Liberty has great ratings, but is $5000 more. And the gas mileage is better for the Tuscon. For a family that has the nearest relative in the Bronx, we travel often.

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
I'll be honest in saying that we test drove both the '08 Santa Fe and the '08 Tucson...and wound up going with the '08 Toyota Highlander.
And as far as buying American....maybe this makes me unpatriotic, but in my family's case, we've had nothing but trouble with domestic cars. Sorry, but I want to buy something that I know is reliable, even if it means supporting another country's economy.

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
We bought a 2008 Tuscon last fall. We love it! It does not have a lot of trunk space though. We are very happy with the car. We always had bought GM vehicles because my FIL worked for GM and we got a discount even though he has been deceased for years. Our last car was a Saturn Vue, and though I loved the space, we had nothing but problems with it, and the transmission was going and it was only 5 years old. Saturn offered the worst trade in even though they knew that the type of transmission we had was defective. So far, the Hyundai has worked out great and the price was great too.

My SIL and Brother would agree, they used to have a Ford Focus and called it the Ford F*CKUS. They now both drive Honda's and haven't had issues.

Re: Hyundai Tuscon
I have a 2007 Tuscon and DH has a 2005 Santa Fe. Since 2005, they have made the Santa Fe bigger, so my Tuscon is only a tad smaller than his Santa Fe.
We love our Hyundais! They drive great and are great value for the money. I looked at the CRV but hated the way it drove (drives more like a car, close to the ground). We're expecting our first child this fall and I don't think we'll have any problem fitting a car seat and stroller in either car.
My parents always buy American and have put so much money into their cars, having tons of problems!
Buy cars you like that are comfortable for you and in your price range! Don't worry about what other people say about buying American vs. foreign.
