NIKON D60 OWENERS, PLEASE COME IN , PLEASE!!!
My DH got me a Nikon D60 as a "surprise" . I just set it up and tried to take a pic and discovered that there is no live view How is that possible? Please tell me I'm wrong? If that's the case I can't keep it bc I can't deal with looking through the view finder, especially while taking pics of DD. I wanted a nice camera , but this is not what I expected at all How do you deal not being able to see the live view finder? Oh and I just called and there is a 10% restocking fee for return or exchange. The whole kit was almost $600

Re: NIKON D60 OWENERS, PLEASE COME IN , PLEASE!!!
I have the D70 and knew going in that it didn't have a live view. I just got used to it, it's not that big of a deal to me. I've been known to take 300 pictures in a few hours too, and although live view would be easier, it's not impossible.
If you want to donate it, I'll take it.

I don't think you have a live view with any SLR.
I don't have it on my Rebel

the d90 has live view but its like $400 more than the d60...Its really easy to take pictures through the view finder though, u just look in and click and the pics come out amazing and its very fast...can u try it for awhile and see if its something u can get used to?

I actually am fine with not having live view on it. When i shoot with the d60, I'm shooting very carefully, and i find with my point and shoot that does have live view, i shake more and it is often blurry if i'm not standing really still.

You will get used to taking pictures without the live view. You can also take so many that you can weed out the bad ones. Seriously, the D60 takes awesome shots! Imagine using a film SLR?! I brought one to Italy before my D60 and I had no idea how the pictures would come out, luckily SLRs usually take great shots.

I have the D90 and never use the live view. I find it easier and much more accurate using the viewfinder, especially when you are outside.

i hate live view except for when your taking a high shot and you need to bend the view to angel it to see otherwise it is just a battery killer.

I thought I would hate the viewfinder but seriously you get used to it so fast. Now I wont even consider using a liveview.

Re: NIKON D60 OWENERS, PLEASE COME IN , PLEASE!!!
I don't think that live view is common in SLR cameras. When you look through the viewfinder on an SLR, you see the picture that you will get. Live view is not a true picture, it's an image on a computer screen. Also. When you use the screen, the tendency is to angle the camera and that screws up the lighting. I find that I hold the camera more steady now that I use the viewfinder. When you see professional photographers at work, they use the viewfinder much of the time. In fact, most of them have specific techniques for holding the camera. Give the camera a try. I got used to it very quickly.

Re: NIKON D60 OWENERS, PLEASE COME IN , PLEASE!!!
I guess it's mainly bc I am so used to a live view finder for so many years. I think now that I took few pics and the shock wore off I may be starting to like it A LOT I love DH

It's OK you'll do just fine without it....
I got the D60 last year. It took me awhile to get used to shooting without the live view. But before too long I realized that I never missed it.
I have the D300 also and it has live view. I honestly never use it except under very specific circumstances.

I have live view on my Rebel and never use it. I prefer taking pics through the view finder. You get use to it...

Re: NIKON D60 OWENERS, PLEASE COME IN , PLEASE!!!
You hold your camera more steady when it's held closer to your body (looking through a view finder). That's the reasoning behind no live view.
My D90 has live view & I only use it when I'm videotaping something.
