Just curious, if so, how much?

DH is planning to take two weeks off (sick time) and will still have some left over to use this year if need be...which is pretty decent I think

I just wonder, it will probably be not that bad when we're both home those two weeks, but then when he's back to work, and I"m basically working from home, its probably gonna be hel l Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DH is taking 2 weeks after Chat Icon is born and then will be working from home for the month of December when I return to work after my maternity leave is up.

Yeah, its weird, my DH has a federal job, and apparently none of the women or men get FML (or whatever the acronym is)

I thought that was illegal, but apparently a federal job doesn't need to have that...luckily they accrue sick time pretty quickly though, so its not too bad (and his is salary, so he won't lose any pay)

DH works from home three days a week so aside from the day or two we get home from the hospital, I'd be surprised if he actually officially takes any days.

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

DH owns his own business...when I asked him how long he will take off he looked at me like it was a strange question.

I told him I think he should be with me and the baby for the first few days at least. He agreed.

I am hoping he will take at least 3 days off. I am jealous of you ladies whose DH are taking off 2 weeks.

DO you know if that's true for all companies? DH was wondering if he would be entitled to it and his company is very sneaky when it comes to what you are actually entitled to.

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

DH is taking a week off when the baby is born. Hopefully I won't need a c-section because then the week he will be taking, he will take to watch my DD while I am in the hospital.

DH is taking a week's vacation, and he's also tossing around the idea of 1 week FMLA. I'm hoping he takes that, too.

DH is taking either 2 or 3 weeks off through FMLA, he hasn't decided yet. He works from home most days anyway so most likely he'll just take the two weeks and then stick around a lot more than normal for a week or two after that. Chat Icon

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

DH is probably taking a week off. But my parents will be here staying with us for almost 2 1/2 weeks after the baby is born.

They have to get FMLA, but FMLA does not mean any of the time is paid. It just means they will keep your job for you and your health benefits (if you get them) will continue through the disability period. I think I have that right.

DH is planning on a week off using vacation days, but may do less. we'll play it by ear.

DH will probably take 1 week off when I give birth and then a week off at some point when I go back to work.

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

This time around, DH is taking 3 weeks off. After our son was born last year (we also have a 3 year old daughter), he only took 2 weeks and it didn't feel like enough. By the time I was home from the hospital (after c-section), he was only home with us for a little over a week. He has been working crazy OT to save up the time.

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

i think he gets 2 weeks vacation and he's saving that for the delivery and to be home.
i also know he gets some personal /sick days so he'll probably max those out as well.

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

I will have the baby in early-mid October. DH will go back to work Nov 1st.

After this my dad will be here for a week, and then my mom for a week.

I need their help more for my almost two year old, than for the baby. He is 30+ pounds now, and I am having a repeat c-section so I won't be able to lift him for awhile. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Anyone else's DH taking time off when baby arrives?

DH has worked overtime and used it to accrue comp time instead of extra pay. He is taking 4 weeks off when the baby comes.Chat Icon
