How is swine flu knowledge handled in your school?
In my school there are kids coming down with it left and right but the administration isn't telling the teachers ANYTHING! They told us everything in the school is fine, in the meantime a student is being hospitalized with it!
How is this being handled in your school? Honestly in my school you just have to rely on rumors, and word of mouth... and just hope that the info you hear is correct! (or in some cases, hope that it isn't correct! )

Do you work in a NYC school? I have three family members that teach in queens and their current experience is the same. They are being told they are not allowed to even ask since it is a privacy violation. I think it is ridiculous personally!

Yup, I'm in NYC... It's just unbelievable..
There should be a way to keep people informed without creating a panic! And, being able to check the daily attendance of all nyc schools does NOT help!
Honestly I think there should be memos every few days in mailboxes updating people HONESTLY on the situation! Maybe I'm wrong.. who knows... I know people may disagree with me on this one, but I am just a concerned teacher who wants to stay informed!

Re: How is swine flu knowledge handled in your school?
I totally agree. It is completely and totally unfair to the teachers and to the other students. I cannot imagine why it is being handled this way. I understand that the swine flu is not serious per se but, everyone has their own situation - whose to say what if any underlying health issues either the teachers themselves or people living with them have. When my mother told me that she has NO idea what the true swine flu situation in her school is and they are not even allowed to ask the parents if the students out have swine flu I was floored.
