B i really would seek a second opinion given your history. what if you do (god forbid) miscarry and it could have been prevented by a simple supplement??

Thank hon, I was thinking this too, also i have been having light cramping too so I am def worried (although i have had light cramping since the beginning). I am so Pi$$ed that they are being like this. Do I just call any old OB in my area and get a second opinion?

yes, call an OB in your insurance plan, explain that you have a history of progesterone issues, that you need to switch OBs but you also need to have your prog. levels checked and suppositories until the results come back.

i was actually also going to post this:

Is there a down side to giving progesterone. i.e. too much can harmful? If not, I don't see why the doctor won't just give it to you.

i wish you the best of luck, please keep us updated Chat Icon

Re: spotting-UPDATE 2

Praying for you that it all works out.

I think your Dr's perogative is that if your progesterone is excellent , then you are spotting for a different reason and giving you progesterone supplements is like putting on a band aid on a knee not yet scraped...Plus to be be honest, if your gonna m/c and the spotting is from that, the progesterone supplements will just prolong it and you will be waiting weeks vs days to know the outcome...make sense?

BUTTTT.... the Good news is that SOOOOOO many women have spotted, bled etc and gone on to have healthy pregnancies and there is no reason this is not and can not be YOU ...I think your previous experience ( I understand, I have been there) makes you extra cautious and nervous. I'm sure your Dr. knows what he is doing, but I think maybe talking to him directly will ease your fears.

ITA!

I want to also add that I had an insane amount of bleeding in the beginning of my pregnancy.

I literally bled every day for weeks - sometimes with clots, and lots of heavy bleeding - and at the time, both of the babies were fine. (We did lose one of the babies - but I actually did NOT have any bleeding at all when that happened)

Re: spotting-UPDATE 2

I agree with the OP - if your doctor tested your progesterone levels, and they are, in fact, excellent, progesterone won't stop the spotting and won't do any good, and there has to be another explanation for the spotting. I would call back though and find out what the exact number was. Most docs like to see progesterone levels above 15, at least.

And remember, spotting can be normal - I've had a LOT of spotting this entire pregnancy, and the little latke is still doing fine, at 34 weeks. Hang in there! Chat Icon

Thanks ladiesChat Icon I agree that I think my doctor feels how you guys do. I am just annoyed b/c i feel like he doesn't believe that I might have progesterone issues (I was with a different practice for most of my DS pregnancy and they lost all my medical records so this office has to go on what I say). I am actually going to wait it out and see what happens with Mondays blood work...if it's meant to be it will work out, if not ... then theirs a reason (maybe something wrong with the baby, etc). I am going to stick with them for now and hope this doctor is right that its just spotting due to the pregnancy (he also said its common in early pregnancy) and noting more serious. By the time i would find a different practice and get the blood taken and they would have to exam me, etc, i might as well just wait till Monday anyway. I will say if my prog level do come back low i will be upset with this doctor for not listening. Chat Icon Chat Icon
