Beyond frustrating

That with a master's degree and 2 1/2 years of experience I STILL have no teaching job. My principal offered me a full year leave but the new certificatiosndon't include Kindergarten.

Why is this so hard? We need $ and health insurance.

Are you looking on Long Island? I'm not a teacher but a lot of my friends are and it seems like it's hard to find a job if you don't know someone or specialize in something like math, and even then it can take awhile.

Have you considered doing something in a related field where you can still use your teaching skills?

I know that the program I work for often looks for people with a teaching background to be Independent Living Skills Trainers. I know there's a Structured Day Program out East as well and I believe the people who work for it have their background in education.

I also know someone who doesn't live on Long Island, however, got a job teaching in a non-traditional school with special needs children and loves it.
