salary for professors at community college level?

Does anyone have any idea what the salary range would be for professors at the community college level in Nassau or Suffolk? No teaching experience, but 3+ years professional experience and advanced degree (Masters or JD).

Feel free to FM me. Thanks!

The Chronicle of Higher Ed has a good faculty salary survey.

I searched the data for two-year colleges in NY -- results

Starting salaries vary from college to college. Community college I think is around $50,000 - but I am not sure if it depends on which department you teach in..

Pay for Adjuncting a class also depends on your level. When you first come in you are on the bottom of the barrel, an Instructor, so they get paid the least. The more semesters you teach, the higher the pay as you climb the Adjunct ladder.

Yes - and most times Adjuncts are only allowed to teach 2 classes per semester.

About $50,000 for tenure-track. It would be very difficult to get tenure-track or even an adjunct position with no teaching experience though.

I adjunct with a doctorate for graduate courses and make $3,000 a course. Suffolk CC does pay a bit more for adjuncts with doctorates than the university where I adjunct.

I researched this thoroughly and without at least a JD or doctorate, it will be very hard to find a teaching position at the college level. A Masters is generally not enough.

I am asking about community college level (not tenure track). I've also researched it thoroughly and most jobs for the CC level only require a masters degree, at least that is what they are advertising. (I have a JD, but a masters is the required level of education for most positions advertised.) I've also checked with a family friend who is an administrator at Suffolk CC.

FWIW, my mother only has masters + 45 and she taught (actually still teaches) at a 4-year college for years... but she is definitely an exception.

While they advertise the min. as Master's level, for the past 10+ years they have enough applicants with doctorates that they usually go with them. It's not to say that they never go for someone without a doctorate, but it's not as common as it was 20 years ago, and they get to list for statistics the number of adjuncts and faculty with doctorates, so they usually go with them. It also depends on the area--the business type courses are flooded with people who want to teach...Math and science traditionally have fewer people applying than humanities/social science/business/law.

I know Suffolk pays more than $2400 per class for adjuncts--I was offered $3500 for there with a doctorate (more than I am making now per course at a university).
