Raleigh - NC relocation ?s
I haven't posted in a very long time, but I have always found this community to be very helpful.
My family is thinking of relocating due to employment in the Raleigh area. I have seen prior posts about Apex and Cary. On-line searches within these communities look great. But we still have ?s:
- how far is it to the ocean REALLY ? - any fishing or boating opportunities nearby ? - any other communities "just like" Apex and Cary that are in the general vicinity ? (wouldn't mind driving 40min or so into Raleigh for work) - HOW ARE THE SCHOOLS ? And what schools are truly "the best" ?
Thank you so much !!!

Re: Raleigh - NC relocation ?s
Raleigh is about 2.5 hours from the water. It's inland.
There are a few lakes that you can go fishing to and some of the lakes have a boat/jet ski section.

Re: Raleigh - NC relocation ?s
I have lived in Raleigh for 3.5 years now. We relocated here for a better quality of life and LOVE IT!!!
I can be to Wrightsville Beach in 2 hours. There are a lot of lakes that people go boating on here. I know people with nice size boats and they go on the lakes. My friend is a huge fisherman and he goes to many state parks, lakes, etc. to fish. I live in North Raleigh and really enjoy it here. It is an area I always recommend people to look at along with Apex. The schools are hard to explain as there are both traditional and year round in the distrct (all of Wake County is one district). If you have specific questions about them let me know. I have a friend who teaches here and I can ask her for the answers.
I can't say enough about Raleigh. I am so happy I made the move.
Feel free to FM me if you need more info.

Re: Raleigh - NC relocation ?s
I live in Cary currently. There is Jordan Lake which is absolutely huge and has a beach area which I have not been to. Wilmington is 90 miles from here and it is a straight shot on 40 East. We like it here a lot. It is very family oriented, lots of industry(for this economy anyway) and tons of Northeasterners!
