5whs6days- no heartbeat? ETA

Hey-

I just went to get my first sonogram and she thinks I am 5wks6days but she saw no fetal pole and no heart beat. She did see the embryo and yolk sack. Should I be concerned at this point? Thanks!

So, I am currently between my gyno who is a nurse practicioner and and OB who I have my first appt with Oct. 1- they will not do a sono at that appt. cause the sono tech is not there at the time I am going. The gyno said she will send me for another sono next week (I will be 6 wekks 6 days) to see if I hear the heart beat. Should I go or am I just setting myself up for dissappointment??? TIA for your advice...

I wouldn't worry.

We had our first sono at 6 weeks and were PG with twins at the time. We didn't see HBs in either baby.

That night I had some spotting, so I went in again the next day at 6 weeks, 1 day and BOTH babies had HBs (we later lost one baby but that's a whole different story!)

When you're this early, even just a day can make a huge difference!

I wouldn't worry. My first Sono was around then- all we saw was the sac

very early some drs wont even do a sono this early...dont worry sending your way

I know it's hard not to worry, I had a Sono and 5W 5D and there was nothing but an empty sac, at 7 w 5d we saw a HB :)

The first thing the sono tech said to me before she did my first sono was "we may or may not see the heartbeat. don't worry if we don't. It may be too early". That was at 6 weeks 3 days. I guess that's why the really don't wanna see anyone till 7 weeks.

I didnt hear a hb until almost 7 weeks.

i would wait it out, as hard as that may be.

I wouldn't worry It's definitely too soon to hear anything.

I don't think I heard the heartbeat til my 3rd appointment

Nope! I think you're on track. I didn't hear a hearbeat and see a fetal pole until 6w5d (I'm 12w1d now).

ITA with all of the previous posters. Try to stay calm until your next sono, it is still early.

At 4w4d I saw absolutely nothing, at 5w5d (I had spotting at this time) I saw a big empty sac...at 8 wk 3 day I saw the baby and the heartbeat. I think 6w6d is a better chance to see the heartbeat but if you can hold out a little longer it might be better, just in case you're not as far along as you think.

I never heard a heartbeat before 6 weeks.

With my son I was 6 weeks 1 day I think and with the twins I was 7 weeks .

I went at 5w5d and only saw the sacs and yolks...when i went back a week later we saw and heard both heartbeats! It was probably just a few days too early when you went...
