How would handle this situation?

I went to see my endo on September 22nd....

At this appointment he drew blood...

Several times last week I saw that either him or someone from his office had called my home/cell. (on my cell and home on the 7th and at home only on the 8th) There was no messages left on either my cell or my home #. I only know they called b/c of Caller ID.

On Thursday I called and requested my lab results. Their outgoing messages states that the doctor will get back to you in 24 hours and to only leave one message. As of yesterday I still have not received a call back so I called AGAIN and AGAIN I left a message. Still no call back....

I am beyond livid at this point.

What would you do? I dont find this acceptable at all.

Re: How would handle this situation?

Thye probably did not leave a message becuase of HIPPA laws. I would keep calling, too bad on them or show up at the office and ask for the results in person. HTH

I never thought of the HIPPA law angle...but I know I signed something in their office stating that they could leave messages AND that they could give out information to my DH.

Im sure Im going to get "the doctor is very busy" which Im sure he is...but Im very busy too and I get back to clients within 48 hours...grrrrrrrrr

Thanks for the input.

Re: How would handle this situation?

I find it odd that they aren't even leaving a generic message about "it's dr so-and-sos office, please cal us back."

If they have been calling you, I wouldn't even leave the message on the automated sytem where the dr will get back to you in 24 hours. Talk with someone at the office.

Explain you have been called a few times and still have no answers. Also explain you left a message on the automated system since they called and you still have nothing.

Be persistant!

Or you can be like me and once I know my results are in, I swing by the office and pick up a copy of them. I have no patience. Chat Icon
