Swine Flu Vaccine
Since my DH and I are ready to ttc again, I am seriously contemplating getting the H1N1 vaccine. I am not sure if I have to wait until I am pregnant or if I can seek it out now. I see there appears to be a shortage so I am not sure I am even a candidate for it. Does anyone know if you can receive it in the first trimester? Is everyone else getting it?

Re: Swine Flu Vaccine
I'm going to wait till i'm actually pregnant and have a chat with my doctor. When I asked about the regular flu vaccine I called my OB and was told they were only giving it to CUrrent OB patients....so I am thinking the same will go w/ swine flu. So I will ask them when the time comes...
I originally thought it was better to get it BEFORE getting pregnant, but now I am hearing that if you get these vaccines while pregnant that it's better for the baby b/c they in turn get vaccinated and are protected when they are born...
I am not ANTI the H1N1, but being so new and hearing so many things I get nervous. My recommendation is to go w/ what your doctor tells you. I have read so much and so many people for it and so many against that my head could explode...you gotta go with your gut!

Re: Swine Flu Vaccine
they are giving it out at my work and I plan on getting it. I am actually pregnant and was told by my OB that I should get it. I always get the regular flu shot too and have not had any symptoms so I am not too worried. I would talk to your OB and tell them you are TTC, see what they recommend.

Re: Swine Flu Vaccine
I am going to get the vaccine....several of my co-workers did too. I am just getting so nervous...(since i work in pediatric offices) that i am at risk of getting the h1n1. So many of my co-workers have gotten the swine flu sickness...that i do not want to risk potentially getting pregnant and then sick with h1n1. When pregnant you have a weakend immune system and the flu is much more severe for us.. So i am def going to get it from one of my offices i call on for work and have them give me the vaccine.
It should be ok if you are in your 1rst trimester to get the vaccine.
However, I do not think the OBGYN's will give it to you if you are not pregnant. Pregnant women are priority and really the only adults right now getting it.
