they get the 12 weeks FMLA just as a woman would. it can be taken at any point within the babies FIRST year. so you could take 12 weeks at your job, and then Dad could take 12 weeks. Federal law stipulates that benefits are continued for the 12 week period (if Dad is the one with the benefits). I don't know how it affects the CAR bank, sick days, etc. but you can use those if you want part of the leave to be paid.
