How much food?
I just found out that after my mother's unveiling at the cemetery tomorrow, fifteen people are coming back to my house for lunch.
I'm stressed out and upset enough for the day, so I'm just going to go out soon and buy cold cuts, salads, stuff like that. But I have no idea how much to buy. I don't usually eat pre-prepared foods, and I have no concept of how many people one pound of turkey breast would feed.
What should I buy for 15 people? How many pounds of cold cuts and salads? What else should I have in the house? TIA.

Re: How much food?
Im so sorry to hear about your mom
I would say 5 pounds of meats, 3 pounds of cheese.
A large potato and macaroni salad..maybe coldslaws....some pickles.
1 bag of chips,1 pretzels,1 tostitos..a cple jars of dip and salsa
Cple loaves of bread, a few rolls, some whole grain bread That would be enough I think

Re: How much food?
Ok, thanks. I would have bought way too little. Thank you for the suggestions (and the sympathy too).

I am so sorry for your loss
I would also buy some cookies or a fruits platter together with the mention above.

Re: How much food?
I'm so sorry for your loss. Just tell the deli you need a cold cut platter, rolls, and salads for 15 people. They will be able to make sure you have the right amount.

Re: How much food?
Thanks everyone - I got deli meats and salads from the supermarket and everything else at Target. Oh, and a few bottles of wine of course. I should be all set.
Unfortunately, that was the easy part though...

Re: How much food?
I'm sorry about your mom.
In my experience we have always just gone out to the diner afterward.
This way there is no need to play hostess.
It may be a little more money but well worth not having the aggravation.
