Taking a rest day.
I know rest days are important I read a ton on fitness and health and know why rest it's necessary and not really an option.
I workout 6 days a week..with a heavy regimine of cardio and weight training. So I have 1 day that I do not go to the gym, run outside, do pilates or anything like that. On this day which is either Friday or Saturday I have a really hard time. I wake up with a headache, cause my body is used to getting up early and working out first thing and I feel lethargic and guilty all day.
Does anyone else feel this way. I look forward to my rest day because I do feel tired by the time it comes, however in reality I really hate it. Is something wrong with me or do I just have issues?

Re: Taking a rest day.
I am not sure, but I know someone who also gets headaches if she stays in bed long as she is used to waking up so early on most days. Maybe on your rest day you could still wake up early and maybe just go for a nice long slow walk at the mall or (nicer weather-beach), neighborhood that day or relaxation stretches, meditation yoga, nothing too difficult. Compared to your regular routine this would be like resting for you. I think if you feel guilty is a concern though. Its just one day and you work hard all week!

I was thinking what the PP said. why not make it a stretching day? Maybe the stretching will get your blood flowing - something to help the headache?
do you think it could have anything to do with overtraining? I know that can wreak havoc to your body and mind.

I have a very similar workout regiment. 6 days of distance running and then weights on at least 3 of those days, so like you I look forward to the rest day (either Friday or Saturday), but during that day I usually feel so lazy and guilty, like I should be doing something. So I have no advice there. I just remind myself my body does really need a day off.
As for your headache, I would suggest waking up at the same time you typically do and also to try to do something to get your blood moving. When I have a migraine, people think that I am crazy, but I will go for a run and then I always feel better.
