Re: maternity leave

I am a full-time graduate student so we don't really have designated vacation or sick days. We take days as we need them.

That being said I get 12 weeks maternity leave at full pay and that's all I plan on taking. I need to graduate!! Chat Icon

Re: maternity leave

I’m lucky, I live in the UK and I get a nice long maternity leave. I get 90% of my salary for 6 weeks (not great) but then I get something called Statutory Maternity Pay, which is about $200 a week, and I get that for 9 months. I can take up to a year off and my company has to hold my job, or a job at the same level. At the end of that year I get my 5 weeks holiday accued, and that is paid in cash, or I can take an additional 5 weeks off.

My new company has a better deal, but unfortunately I am not eligible for it. Bummer.

Re: maternity leave

4 weeks prior to due date I start my leave-that is full salary paid by company.

6 weeks or 8 weeks after baby is born-full salary paid by company.

I can then take my vacation time - 4 weeks.

I can then take up to 6 months unpaid leave, but keep my benefits and position.

I plan to take it all, same as I did with DD. Baby will be 9 months old when I return to work.

They hold my job for one year, unpaid.

I have to use my sick and vacation time. I will probably use 40 days of vacation time and 20 days of sick time to take off three months.

But no worries because that will still leave me with about 10 vacation days and 28 sick days when I get back. LOL

Dam, I am jealous. If you don't mine me asking were do you work. Can I get a Job? LOL

Re: maternity leave

According to our new handbook I get 5 paid days for my maternity leave. That's it. The rest of the time I will be receiving disability at a measly $160 a week for 7 weeks. Then I will be going back to work at 8 weeks. I think my boss might make me use my accrued vacation time but since my year only just started over in Sept I'll only have 4 days accrued. So I might be out 9 weeks instead of 8, with 2 of them being fully paid.

Re: maternity leave

My company offers 12 weeks fully paid maternity and I don't need to use vacation or sick time. We don't have a set number of vacation or sick days, you take what you need within reason. You can't add those onto your 12 weeks, but you just keep them for when you want or need them.

Re: maternity leave

I get 12 weeks fmla, but have to use my sick time. I have 16 days, then I have 11 vacation after that. The rest is unfortunatley not paid, but your insurance is covered for the entire 12 weeks. I can also request a leave of absence for up to 1 year for child care purposes.

Re: maternity leave

I get 12 weeks FMLA and I will get paid for however many sick, vacation and personal days I have on the books.

I currently have 23 days and I'm Chat Icon I can manage without taking another day off between now and July. That will give me 35 days paid - 7 weeks. I'll prostitute myself for the last month's mortgage payment. Chat Icon

How does one obtain a government job? Just apply online?

I am taking 12 weeks.. 6 of them are paid through short term dis and then I will be using my vacation for 2 weeks, leaving 4 weeks unpaid.
